When you discover the world is a computer program, and you figure out that by altering the code you can time travel and perform acts that seem like magic, what can possibly go wrong?

Pretty much everything.

Just ask Brit, who has jumped around in time with such abandon that she has to coexist with multiple versions of herself. Now, Brit the Elder finds that her memories don't match Brit the Younger's. And there's the small matter of a glitch that's making Brit the Elder's body fritz out. Brit the Elder's ex-boyfriend Phillip wants to help her, but he'll have to keep it secret from his current girlfriend, Brit the Younger, who can't stand her future self.

Meanwhile, Martin is trying to protect Phillip from a relentless attacker he somehow hasn't noticed; Gwen is angry because Martin accidentally proposed to her; Gary tries to help the less fortunate, with predictably disastrous results; and an old nemesis might have to be the one to save them all.

In Out of Spite, Out of Mind, our fearless wizards discover the biggest glitch in their world's program may well be themselves.

Excellent narration by Luke Daniels as always.

This book in the series was not as light hearted and fun as the previous books.

Seeing the cover (honestly, I didn’t even read the synopsis before buying it - Magic 2.0 books are an auto buy for me) - I was expecting some fun interactions with many multiple versions of Brit.
Yes, there were multiple versions of Brit interacting together, but it wasn’t fun. Snooty, bitchy, grumpy... but not fun.

We know from previous books that future Brit and and future Philip are not a couple, but this is the book we find out why...... and well, Brit is a spiteful bitch.

Sounds like the next book should be interesting from the way this one ended. I just hope Mr. Meyer’s gives Philip a better happier storyline than what it looks like the future holds for him.

Looking forward to book 6 !

Not what I was hoping for.

Kind of defeats the feminist bent of the overall series by writing a story where a woman is so ruled by emotion she almost glitches the universe into oblivion just because her boyfriend secretly talked to other women (I don't think that's a spoiler).

I don't know, I enjoy the series but I wish the author wouldn't write every single character as if they're complete morons.

The title is the story.

Pro: I like Scott Meyer quirky style and the fun way he has the wizards interact.

Con: let’s take the worst person (Brit) who is already obnoxious and full of herself and make it all about her. I just found my self rolling my eyes ; they would be better off to put all the Brits in one of those mime boxes.

Cousin Oliver effect

I have thoroughly enjoyed every entry in the Magic 2.0 series and am breathlessly waiting for number 6 (which should be out next summer). This book pays off a lot of things that began in Spell or High Water. There were a lot of clever twists (which is no surprise, this is a Scott Meyer joint after all) and several unexpected turns! Ultimately this book delivered the most emotionally devastating, if not ultimately predictable (“because that is how it happened before”) climaxes of the series. For a silly story, it has a surprising amount of heart!

Luke Daniels is nothing short of amazing. I have no doubt that this book presented a singular challenge as several characters interacted with multiple versions of themselves. In the expert hands of Daniels, this potentially infuriating and confusing plot device is executed flawlessly... subtle changes in intonation and inflection, help to make clear exactly who you are hearing.

If you’ve read this far into my review what are you even doing with your life?! Stop reading this and buy the book already! You won’t regret it (unless you haven’t heard the previous 4 book, then buy all 5)!

Thoroughly enjoyable, eleven stars!

Totally devastating, completely enthralling

Out of Spite, Out of Mind continues to be a very entertaining story of the Magic 2.0 series. Scott Meyer has done a great job continuing the story and Luke Daniels continues to be a fantastic voice actor and does such a great job bringing the characters to life. All in all I enjoyed everything about this book and would recommend it to everyone who enjoyed the previous titles.

A very entertaining addition to the Magic 2.0 series.

Without spoiling the events that transpire, just know that time travel-induced frustrations and poor social skills plagued this one for me.

Otherwise it was another fun addition to Magic 2.0, and am looking forward to seeing what Scott just set up Book 6 to deal with.

AKA. Brit is a Pain in the Ass

Scott Meyer and Luke Daniels have done it again. Every book in this series is great and my one complaint is that I don't want to wait for the next part of the story.

OMG the cliffhanger...

I was really excited to see that there was another book coming out in this series, and it didn’t disappoint at all. I laughed so much listening to this book. Also Luke Daniels narrates this book perfectly. If you loved his other books, you will love this one too.

An awesome addition to the series

It was a great little story, but it really felt like a side story. I would have imagined a story centered around Britt and her time travel shenanigans would have been a little more meaty, but instead her story was relatively self contained and this was instead, more a story with no main voice or protagonist.

Martin's story has been over for a while, but most of the previous books up to the last one another now this one are starting to feel like ancillary tales from the universe. The ending seems to have set up a thrilling idea for the next book, but really, that's what this whole book felt like.

40% interesting character development, 40% set up, and 20% unsatisfactory resolution.

That being said, I still enjoyed the hell out this one. Especially with an amazing performance as always!

Hopefully, with the pins are lined up, the next book in the series will strike them down in a very satisfying way!
