Hockey is my life.

It's my only goal, my only escape, and everything was going according to plan. All I had to do was focus on the game, keep my head down, then get drafted into the NHL.

Archer and Daemon my babies😭 they deserve all of the stars. These two will forever live in my head rent free, they are perfection. I devoured their story and when I wasn’t reading I was constantly thinking about them.

Archer is the goofball who loves to push everyone’s buttons and make people laugh. You can’t help but love him but underneath that is a heart that loves hard and would do anything to protect those he loves. Daemon is closed off and has a terrible past. The way my heart hurt for him and I just wanted to wrap him up in my arms. Let’s just say his past made me cry. These two are complete opposites but the way they are perfect together.

“His mouth is on mine and suddenly, nothing else matters.”

Although Daemon can’t stand Archer and his antics to constantly get under his skin he can’t help but feel some type of pull towards him at the same time. Even though it started as a joke Archer is a man who is dedicated and he is set on winning Daemon over. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. And don’t even get me started on the sexual tension, my lordy these two together and when they finally truly give in, I couldn’t get enough.

“I think we’ve established that the only thing I’m into, is you”

Now the emotional aspect, I was not expecting. Daemon has a very horrid childhood and the more we learned the more my heart broke for him. But the way he slowly let Archer in and truly let himself feel happiness was amazing. He grew so much through out the story and the way Archer never gave up on him. He stood by his side through everything. No matter how hard it was when he learned something new about him he continued to love, support him and give him exactly what he needed in that moment.

It truly was a beautiful love story, that I will forever wish I could read for the first time again over and over. This book was a masterpiece.

Such a powerful and emotional book. I happened to stumble upon this series a few months ago, and I'm so happy that I did. This is the 3rd book in the Fairfield U series. The first book is The Puck Secret, Nova and Maddie's book. This is Nova's best friend, housemate, and teammate, Archer's book. It's a wild and emotional ride, so buckle up and have your tissues ready.

This book is about Archer Grey, the golden boy of the team. Archer is always happy go lucky making people laugh and never met a stranger type of guy. He's always a playboy with the ladies. Archer is always looking for more though. Just because he's a goofball in front of everyone, doesn't mean he's like that when he's alone. So he never tries to be alone.

Daemon Forbes is the grumpy loner on the hockey team. He's the brooding artist, but doesn't expect much out of life because his past isn't a great one. He only has 1 friend and it's Josh (book 2, The Puck Decoy). They are also housemates and teammates. Even though Josh is Daemon's best friend, he still hasn't told him everything about his past. There are rumors though surrounding his past, but no one really knows the truth.

Daemon can not stand Archer. They had a brief encounter freshman year, when he found Archer in his room w/a girl. Archer thought they would become friends after what happened, but he was wrong. Daemon pretend to not know what Archer is taking about and tried to ignore him. Archer can't just ignore Daemon after this encounter, so he goes out of his way to show up where he is, and bother him. It's quite easy to bother Daemon when it cones to Archer.

This book takes place their senior year, and everything comes to a head between the 2. Archer doesn't know why Daemon doesn't like him and why he pretends to not know what happened freshman year. They had this connection that was so strong. While Archer is trying to figure out why, Daemon is ignoring it. This sets up the true enemies aspect between them.

Then Archer's little sister, Aurora saw Daemon at a cake shop in town while out with Archer one day. She knows they play hockey together and assumes they are friends. So she sets herself at Daemon's table w/ Archer and they strike up a friendship. Aurora and Daemon have art in common and talk through text and on socials after this meet. Archer steals his number from her phone after there meet too.

Daemon's backstory is awful. Just be prepared to have tissues throughout this book. The author touches on his past quite often in this book, but she had to because of understanding Daemon as a whole. And Archer didn't understand him all at once. At one point he said, "Every time I get 1 wall broken down there is another one that comes up in its place." That is true. Daemon has night terrors, he's covered in scars, ignores his older brothers phone calls everyday, has panic attacks, and a father in prison. That's not even touching on his mom and little brother. There is a lot going on in this man's life.

Then you get into Daemon and Archer's hookups. They are attracted to each other, but Archer has never been with a man before. Then every time you think things are progressing between them, Daemon puts a stop to it by saying it was a mistake or that it can't happen, or to leave him alone. Daemon has a poor view of himself and Archer is the type that doesn't give up when he wants something. They're some really great spicy moments in this book. A must-read book for sure.
