This is the 3rd book in the series and I've been just sucked in from the beginning. I went a little wonky starting with 2 then 1 and now 3 😆. I enjoyed the 2nd one so much i needed to go back ...
This is in no way any type of romance book, heavy pitch black with no hea. The things that happen to the fmc are horrible and nobody deserves what she went through. The mc is an obsessed cruel man that does things that are unforgivable... Please make sure you read your triggers, even those of you who think they don't have any ... my group of peeps thrive in the darkness but it's rough ... story though phenomenal and can't wait for the next one!

Degradation is book three in The Brethren Series and trust me when I say, the title fits this book perfectly. Do NOT go into this book thinking this is a dark romance. In no way is this a romance novel, nor was it intended to be. It’s pitch black, and horror with no HEA. I felt this story had more of a mysterious thriller vibe, that I appreciated.

Paitlyn and Devin’s story did not disappoint in the darkness category. Once again, I found myself getting a tad squeamish or uncomfortable at times, while trying to understand the ‘Why’s’. This book was extremely dark, twisted and heartbreaking. I felt so much sympathy for all that the FMC endured. The abuse, humiliation, and betrayal were brutal. It’s definitely not for the weak; however, there’s a sense of beauty in the forgiveness aspect, even if that forgiveness may have been forced.

How is that each book in The Brethren Lords series is equally pitch black and f*cked up. Degradation is pitch black, check the trigger warnings extremely carefully. If you’ve read the other books in the series then you will enjoy this one as well and we finally get Devin’s story. Devin (MMC) is quite unhinged and a bodyguard for Chapter Lord. Pailtyn’s(FMC) be forced to marry the Chapter Lord, and he’s old, gross and crazy. I’ve read a lot of books and I’ve never heard of metal spikes as an adornment on a man’s junk. And I shall have nightmares about it, hahahaha. But at the same time I’m kinda hot for Devin, I like crazy and unhinged. And the ending left so many doors open. I can’t wait to see how things will play out.

This is another pitch black book in the Brethren Lords series and I loved it! IMO, this was lighter than the first two books, but still check your TW because it is still VERY dark! For as many red flags that Devin has, honestly I was loving him and his obsession with Paitlyn. Despite everything she is forced to endure, Paitlyn is such a strong FMC and so determined to not give up. And Devin is determined to save her and make her his….low key was here for how he couldn’t resist her.

The audio is performed in duet by Roxy Isles & Derek Duvall.  They brought this book to life and made it so easy to listen to! Would definitely recommend the audio if you’re considering reading this book!

Ellie Sanders keeps insisting this is not a love story, but I am convinced she is gaslighting us all. Because if this is not love—dark, warped, and consuming—then I do not know what is.

Devin is unapologetic. He does not beg for forgiveness or pretend to be something he is not. His devotion to Paitlyn seeps through every act, even the cruel ones. There is no softness in him, no pretense of redemption, only raw, obsessive loyalty wrapped in control. He is the kind of character who terrifies you one moment and breaks your heart the next, and you hate yourself for understanding him.

Roxy Isles and Derek Duvall take this already devastating story and elevate it to something visceral. Derek’s performance is pure, calculated menace, his voice smooth, steady, and laced with a quiet malice that makes your skin crawl. Yet beneath that darkness, you can hear every ounce of devotion he tries and fails to bury. Roxy embodies Paitlyn’s transformation perfectly, her tone evolving from fragile to fierce, from silence to strength.

Through their duet, you do not just hear this story, you feel it. Every breath, every pause, every unspoken plea between them is amplified in a way that only audio can deliver.

Ellie can call it erotic horror if she wants, but to me, Degradation is a love story disguised as damnation. And no one delivers damnation quite like this cast.
