I’ve been good long enough.

As the eldest son of Austin’s most prominent preacher, I’ve lived my life on the virtuous side. No scandals. Flawless image. Clean reputation.

That’s the way it must be if I’m going to take his place someday.

But everything changes when I find out my father is a VIP member of a local kink club.

A liar. A cheater. A hypocrite.

Now, I’m done being righteous.

And when the club owner’s jaded girlfriend comes to me with a proposal, I can’t resist.

Sage is nothing like the women I’ve dated before. Pink hair, tattoos, piercings. I know it’ll burn my father’s reputation to the ground when she and I are seen together.

But our fake dating scheme isn’t enough. We need videos—dirty videos.

The more we film these scenes, the more I like it.

She wants me to degrade her, hurt her, violate her.

And God help me, I want it too.

But it’s hardly fake anymore, and before long, I don’t recognize the Goode man I used to be.

I loved every minute of this book. Both narrators were amazing but the male narrator is my favorite. I could listen to him read a phone book. Spice was super FN hot in this book. Loved the story. Loved everything. I want more Sage and Adam!!!

Perfection!

The amazing writer Sara Cate has done it again! It’s taboo, fake relationship, and some revenge. Everything a spicy romance reader will love! And the narrators did a great job!

Adam (age 37) - is a Church Boy. He’s been so conflicted with duty and obligation his whole life; learning about his father’s betrayal pushes him over the edge. He was written as a real person and it was easy to identify with his inner struggles. Adam truly is a gentleman—a secretly perverted gentleman and I loved seeing his dominant self come out!
Adam’s vision for his church is beautiful 🥹.

Sage (age 27) is a pink-haired, pierced, and tattoo-covered independent but lonely person. She has an older friend Gladys and three legged dog Roscoe who care about her.

Sage and Adam’s journey of self-discovery, exploration, and religious recovery is so beautifully written and brought out all the emotions: I smiled, cried and got so angry in certain scenes.

While I prefer the FMC to be less experienced it did go with the storyline. Enjoyed all the naughty scenes showing these two are perfect for each other 🫠 I got pretty excited every time that camera came out 🥵

Minus Truett, I really fell in love with the Goode family. Melanie is an amazing Mom and the abuse she suffered while still keeping her compassion is remarkable. I wish we learned more about her reasoning. The pain of losing Isaac hurt and I can’t wait for when we get his story. Next up is Caleb’s story coming in Feb 2024 💔

Narration was PERFECTION. This was duet style and their voices flowed seamlessly and held the emotion of each scene… plus those steamy scenes 🔥🔥

The narration was amazing. The story had some really good aspects and sets up the series really well but there were some areas of the plot that fell flat for me. I love Sara & plan to read the rest of the series when it comes out!

An amazing performance.

A Pastors son and a s*x club owner walk into a diner...no this is not a joke; it's how our characters meet. Adam Goode is the son of Austin’s most prominent Pastor. He lives his life similar to his last name, good. He was raised in a church and to believe that God will provide, help and heal. Then he meets pink haired, tattooed and pierced Sage on one of his usual mornings to his usual diner to sit in his usual place. Something about Sage intrigues Adam, but he knows she would never be accepted into his life so he tries to put her behind. Until his father essentially fires him from the church, and he find a deed on his desk. A deed to a s*x club, the club operated by Sage. His curiosity getting the better of him, he shows up to the club and finds Sage, but he also finds...His Father. After his father, beats him and threatens him, he is questioning everything he knew growing up. He suddenly feels lost. The same night, Sage quits her job and breaks up with her boyfriend due to him overstepping her at the club and not letting her fix things. Adam and Sage team up to do two things, ruin Adams shiny reputation and in turn, his fathers, and make Sages ex jealous. What better way to do this? Then film and distribute homemade s*x tapes. While it starts off as good angles and strategic placements soon turns into real. And the cherry on top of it all, Adam has discovered he likes to dominate in a very specific way, and Sage likes to submit in the same exact way.

This is the first book in The Goode Brothers series and boy did it start out HIGH! Sara Cate is a literary genius with her characters and their individual development. I appreciated the flip flop of roles as well. Far too often we find a female character who is at a crux in life, and she is helped by a strong knows-exactly-who-he-is male character. In The Anti-Hero, Adam is the one who struggles with who he is, how he's been raised and how he wants to live while Sage knows who she is, is comfortable in her own skin. She helps Adam come out of his shell and helps him see he can still do good things with his life while also being a little bad in the bedroom. You spend the whole book just rooting for these characters and whenever it seems they are going to open that door to be together, something gets in their way. Sara also has this ability to write in this anxious energy, like you know there is something coming, you know something is going to happen. When that thing finally happens, you are not surprised but also surprised at the same time because you don’t see THAT coming. She puts her characters through their paces.

This book was narrated by Jacob Morgan and Vivienne LaRue, neither are strangers to Saras books. Not only was this book narrated by two amazing narrators, it’s even better because it’s in Duet! Jacob Morgan perfectly plays the Good(e)y two shoes Adam with a dark and kinky underside. He has played this type of character before, specifically for Sara. He is able to bring the tumultuous feelings and attitude of Adam to life and as quick as a snap can turn into the kinky dominate in the club. The way he says some of the naughtiest things will make you blush, even when you are alone. Vivienne perfectly captures the badass, take no shit attitude of Sage. She, too, is able to go from the women in charge to the women on her knees so fast your head will spin. She really brings to life this vibrant character who is learning things about herself as well as helping others discover who they are. I really hope to hear them both in duet again because they perfectly complement each other.

5 stars for 4 spicy peppers for this one.
