Publisher's summary

In the aftermath of the attack, Lillian will need to rely more on Zack than she had wanted to, but she understands now that her apartment is not safe. In the back of her mind, she knows more than she’s saying, but due to the concussion, she’s having trouble remembering it herself.

Now that she is living with Zack until she can get back on her feet, Zack is starting to see two sides of her. Unfortunately, he’s not sure which side he wants to be with. When he pushes her away to protect her from his feelings, she decides it’s time to stand on her own two feet alone—except a four-legged hero appears and is welcomed quickly into her life.

Now Lillian needs to move into her new safe apartment, get back to work, find a way to figure things out with Zack, and pray that no one claims her new four-legged friend as theirs before she gets burned.

In part one, Zack wanted Lillian to burn for him. When the tables are suddenly turned, will they be able to burn together?

Hero

the story is well written, with well developed characters. it is emotionslly charged, and will pull you in. this story picks up where the first book ended. It's a pleasure watching the relationship develop. my favorite part is Hero, the dog who saves the day(s).

Whiskey, Smoke, and Hero

Lillian/Whiskey (h) is staying with Zack/Smoke (H) as she recovers from her attack. Zack wants to pursue their relationship, but some of Lillian's behaviors are troubling and at times it's almost as though she's two people. She moves out to be on her own, but it's not long before Zack is back and her four legged protector finds her. But Lilly's past isn't finished with her and there are dangers ahead. This was such an amazing second part of the duet and I love their HEA. Hero's story just makes me tear up - so sweet!

Great Duet Ending!!

I was excited when this book was finally available as an audiobook! I had to snatch it up!
This book starts off right where the other one ends! So read the first book first!
I enjoyed this story. It added character and depth to Lillian and Zack's relationship. Plus the dog!! I liked the author's writing of Lillian after the events of the first story, because Lillian becomes so much more (and makes better decisions) and learns more how to be her own person. More depth is given to Zack's backstory and it just makes him and Whiskey perfect for each other.
The ending of this duet was nice and sweet, and Whiskey and Smoke both deserve it!

Note: this is the second part of a duet. It is necessary to read the first book to properly enjoy and understand this one. It is not a standalone.
Also, there is talk of assault and abuse (emotional and physical) in this story.

Again, I love Lydia! She's the best!! I probably like her more than the dog.

I liked the narrator! She narrated the last book, and I am glad she was able to narrate this one as well. She does a good job with each character's voice.

I think I would have liked this more if I read it

I liked the storyline, the twist in Smoke and Whiskey’s relationship and the resolution about the dog.

I wasnt sure what it was about the first that was keeping me from really liking the book, but I think it was the narrator’s voice wasnt resonating with how I pictured the characters and how she read the book.

Given that I will listen to another book by this author with a different narrator and see how I feel after that.

Zack and Lilly part 2

This is an intense conclusion! I was on the edge of my seat until the last 30 minutes. Omg such an amazing conclusion! I totally believe smoke and whiskey found each other to help heal their emotional wounds! Also to leave how good real love can be!

Awesome

This part 2 is even better than the part 1. Smoke, whiskey and now hero…..hero save her life and what is going to happen to this dog that’s lost? Read and find out.

Great Conclusion!

This is the second book in the Whiskey & Smoke Duet. Zach and Lillian's story continues where the first book left off. The storyline is interesting, filled with drama, danger, and twists and turn. Hero is such a good dog, very protective. This is a great conclusion to Zach and Lillian's story. Rowan Marlowe did a good job with the narration.
