Former mercenary Bull Krebbs now heads up security at his nightclub in Harrisburg, PA. Working the door night after night, he's seen it all. Though tough on the outside, he's a little hurt that people find him unapproachable. Then he pulls a cute twink out of line to perform a random search, and he's surprised when the guy giggles and squirms.

Zach Spencer, graphic artist, twink, and seriously ticklish, isn't intimidated by Bull. He's in awe, and when Bull saves Zach from being trampled on the dance floor, Zach finds his inspiration for the superhero in his graphic novel.

Soon Zach wants more and makes his move by asking Bull on a date. Though small, he has a backbone of steel. He'll need it-their happily ever after is thwarted at every turn, including by Bull's interloping mother showing up unannounced and enemies from Bull's past threatening to pull him to the other side of the world.

Definitely enjoyable- rather exceeded my expectations. John Solo did a fabulous job with the narration. I might even try books 2 and 3 for fun

Listened to the audio version and the narrator was great. I especially loved Bulls "voice." This is a great story where Bull is a big strapping guy but has his hurts and vulnerabilities. Zach is seen as geeky and smaller but he has developed an inner strength and the ability to kick ass when necessary. They each fill a void in the other. They face a lot in a short time but come out stronger.

Not Just What You See

While the narration was good, the story was a mix of familiar tropes and scenes. I felt somewhat detached while I listened and never drawn in to the point that the characters and their love story tugged at my heart.

I listened to this as part of the Romance package and would not have otherwise sampled this author. I thought this was worth a listen and intend to try out more of his books.

An ok listen, but it didn't really grab me.

I'm not sure it was me or narrator , but book seemed kinda monotonous. seriously .

This book started out as a 5 star rating, with the angry, gruff Bull trying to deal with Tickle Boy. It was amusing and showed promise for a couple with such different personalities working out a relationship. Instead , Bull does a complete 180 and is instantly a super sweet marshmallow, calling Zach sweetheart and honey, and even says “you’re an angel, and I want to take you to heaven.” Really? Who wouldn’t roll their eyes and laugh out loud if someone said that to them? Also, long-standing conflicts were resolved by the briefest of conversations or improbable attacks by Zach. All in all, it’s worth a listen. Or perhaps a read. John Solo did a fair job as Bull, and of Zach, but there were times when he was just using a reading voice, and read too fast, which made it difficult to stay engaged in the story.

A great start, a fair ending...
