Publisher's summary

His new challenge: Keep himself from falling in love again at all costs.

At odds with love, Matthew Northcott has firmly decided that he will never marry, much to the dismay of his relatives . . . and nearly every young lady he meets. Rather than seek a marriage for himself, he attempts to find matches for others, grateful to see that love is not entirely cruel—just cruel to him.

When a letter arrives from Matthew's friend Jack, asking an immense favor from him, Matthew undertakes a new challenge: Find a husband for Jack's spinster sister, Miss Cassandra Warwick, before the end of the season. Though a strange request, Matthew is determined to help his friend. But as he comes to know Cassandra and the circumstances which placed her in his path, he begins to wonder who the matchmaker truly is.

Which Suitor Will Cassandra Choose?

Cassandra, an “aging” spinster at 27, is working with a matchmaker friend of her brother to make one last desperate attempt to find a husband during the London season. She doesn’t exactly have the right look and her family have suffered some scars on their reputation, so there isn’t much hope that a suitable gentleman will be interested in her. It’s fun to learn about the many men that are very interested in Cassandra, the hilarious efforts they make to win her over, and her ultimate decision. A funny, sweet story!

Humor and regency at its finest!

Without question, my favorite Ashtyn Newbold! The scene at the first black with her hair automatically made Cassandra one of my all time favorite heroines.

It’s okay

I was enjoying this story until the plot diverged and became about Aunt Lav and her manipulations. I found those parts detracting and uninteresting, and it wasn’t what the marketing/PR copy indicated the book was about. When the story stayed focused on the two main characters, it was charming with plenty of humor. However, the overuse of explanatory narrative and internal thoughts in the midst of their dialog also detracted. It’s a cute premise, and the author knows how to add in lightheartedness, which was much appreciated. That narrator was good.
