Publisher's summary

The last thing Amelia Kennington wants is to participate in the London Season. But the daughter of a duke is not afforded such opinions. She must put forth a subdued facade, but beneath it is a well-hidden fire that surfaces only when provoked—such as when an overly familiar gentleman startles her and she falls into the Serpentine.

Edward Drayton, the Earl of Norwich, has gained a reputation as Society’s most decorated rake. And while there are benefits to such a reputation, it no longer gives him the satisfaction it once did. This Season, he plans to find a wife—except she seems to find him instead. And she is nothing like he expected.

Scandal is inevitable following Edward and Amelia’s ill-conceived meeting, forcing them to marry. Amelia’s disdain for this man she hardly knows is more than clear, and Edward’s pride is wounded before their marriage has even truly begun. Yet, against all odds, the two slowly let their guard down, discovering the truth of who they married. But when Society gossip, a sister’s jealousy, and long-held secrets threaten their budding relationship, the unlikely couple must determine if their unconventional love is strong enough to withstand the opposition they face.

Incredible story and great writing

This book is very well written and has great characters and a great story. This is one of those “page turners” that I couldn’t stop listening to. I’m sad it’s over, but at least now I can go to bed at a normal person hour because I won’t stay up late listening to this book anymore! Everything I have read from this author has been incredible. The narrator is perfect for the book too.

Sweet story

Too long, conflict was ‘no communication’ that made them both stupid, and went on too long, but sweet story.

Easy listening story

Narrator saved it, as a lot of good narrators do. Was a little long, on the whole I enjoyed it

Enjoyed it

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It had me laughing out loud at times and sad at times. Edward and Amelia were perfect for each other although they were both idiots at times. Lady Cromwell and Lady Anderson were wonderful.

Riveting

I would recommend it to ages 13 to 90 😊. It was clean, interesting, and fun. I loved the characters and setting.

It’s good but…..

This was one of the most frustrating books I’ve ever read. First of all, it was much longer than it needed to be. The author could’ve removed 10-12 chapters and lost nothing in the overall story. In the first 1/3 of the story, Amelia was an abhorrent shrew and I almost gave up on the book altogether. Once she began to thaw, though, I thoroughly enjoyed the development of their relationship and I especially enjoyed the growth of Edward’s character. However, all of the miscommunication (or complete lack of communication) became utterly eye-rolling and the use of the “interrupted at a crucial moment” trope was played out so many times it was absurd.

In spite of all this, though, I actually did enjoy the book overall and do recommend reading it. I just wanted fellow readers to expect frustration in the process.

Outstanding

I struggled to put it done (stop listening) to it on Saturday. I listened to half on it!!! Then on Sunday I finished it!! Very very well written. The characters truly came to life and I was transported on Edward and Emelia’s journey. Entangled in there emotions feeling them as they did. I do not want to spoil the story with details so I will say it was beautifully written and clean which I very much appreciate. Look foto other books by this author. Thank you for sharing a piece of you with us readers!

It’s fine, but drags

It really drags and all I want to yell at the main characters is to communicate! I hate when they hide things to spare the other or just don’t communicate and leave the other to come to their own conclusions.

Great book!

I really enjoyed listening to this book! It was a great story, and I liked reading more about Lord Norwich after reading the previous book. I enjoyed the narrator as well. She did performed the characters wonderfully!
