Publisher's summary

England, 1820

Rosalind Newbury is counting down the days until her wedding to the Duke of Marlow, a man she has only met twice. The marriage is more an agreement between two families and less a romantic connection between two hearts, but Rosalind becoming a duchess will elevate her family’s status to dizzying heights. And the duke is a kind man who will care for Rosalind, even if he doesn’t love her.

She only has three weeks before her life changes forever, and she knows exactly how she wants to spend her days. As a child, Ros was inspired by her adventurous Aunt Alice and created a list of ten things to do before her wedding day. So far, Ros has done none of them.

She is determined to tackle each item, though she’ll have to accomplish them all in secret. After all, a soon-to-be-duchess is not usually allowed to bury treasure in the pasture, eat sweets all day, or learn how to swim. She enlists the help of her best friend, Liza, who brings along her cousin, Charlie, a prodigal son-turned-boxer who has come to the countryside to mend his reputation and learn how to be his father’s heir.

Together, the three of them work to complete the list, and as each item is crossed off, an unlikely friendship blossoms between Ros and Charlie. The more time they spend together, the more Ros falls in love with this imperfect man and his good heart.

With the wedding looming, Ros must decide to either admit her romantic feelings for Charlie and risk her family’s future, or keep her promise to marry the duke and start a new life as a noblewoman.

Another great Proper Romance from Megan!

First, I have to say, I love Justine Eyres narration. I think that she is great at differentiating the voices and I adore her reading style.
Second, I think Megan is exceptional at writing family bonds, bonds between friends, and romantic relationships.

Fun story. I loved everything about this book: the writing, characters, plot, and the narration by Justine Eyre. Can’t wait for more from Megan Walker.

Great Family Values

Great idea for heroine of the story and for writing about the family support members should all expect. How much better we all would be with families like this. Just when I thought I knew what was coming next, the author changed it up and made the story a bit better.

I was not completely happy with the narrator's voice, but her reading and inflection s were quite good. I did enjoy this book very much.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this novel. It had some predictability as they all do but it also had parts that kept me on the edge of my seat. I would listen to it again! Some of the things the lead female does are incredibly inappropriate for the time but I think that is part of her charm. I have listened to books narrated by this narrator before and have come to enjoy listening to her! I think overall it was really well done and the chemistry between the characters was excellent.

I loved this one!

What a delight! I love the character development in Miss Newbury’s List. It felt very natural and sweet. And I loved the family elements as well. I do hope we get a Duke of Marlow story in the future.

Sweet and Wholesome

I cannot imagine living in a time where a woman couldn’t decide choices for herself. The fact that Rosiland was technically being sold into a marriage for land is beyond me. The difference in this story is that Rosalind has a little bit of feistiness in her. The list that she makes is intriguing, but how she accomplishes it is such a fun adventure.

I love Lizzy, her best friend, and Charlie, who is Lizzy‘s cousin. They take it upon themselves to help Rosalind check off her list before she marries the Duke. In the meantime, you can guess that she falls in love with Charlie after developing a friendship with him. It was a sweet way that it went about it and you could feel the love that was growing between them. You root for them because they are such likable characters.

For the most part, Justine did a good job reading this book. There were times when her voice became a little annoying, almost like nails on a chalkboard. I don’t know why she use that voice, because when she did other voices that wasn’t there. I’m not sure I would be able to listen to another book narrated by her.

Interesting story line

Interesting read, but narration not my favorite. Like the plot line of completing list before marriage.
