Publisher's summary

A red witch in hiding....

Thirteen years fleeing witch hunters and the looming threat of death. Nineteen-year-old Remy knows she is possibly the last red witch alive, and she is determined to stay that way. The Northern Court King has slaughtered her home court and placed a bounty on red witch heads.

When four fae warriors enter her tavern refuge, Remy tries to flee, but her magic isn’t strong enough to stop a fae prince on a mission. The handsome Prince Hale of the Eastern Kingdom wants to stop a war with the Northern Court before his kingdom befalls the same fate as Remy’s. He needs a red witch, and Remy may be the only person alive who can help him. Can she really trust Prince Hale? Can her fallen court be resurrected from the evil clutches of the Northern Court King? For the chance to save herself, her people, and help defeat the Northern King, Remy must put her faith in Hale and his companions on a dangerous quest to find lost relics.

The High Mountain Court is the first book in the thrilling fantasy saga The Five Crowns of Okrith. Expect danger, intrigue, and thrilling passion as Remy journeys to save the kingdom she holds most dear.

Includes bonus stories The Witch of Crimson Arrows and Haastmouth Beach.

Excellent story and excellent delivery

AK Mulford’s amazing story was beautifully brought to life by Mela Lee. I thoroughly enjoyed the delivery of one of my favorite stories.

almost pure romance

I enjoyed the performance of the book and the story idea was good. it just seemed like there was to much given to just the love story side. I mean really we had royal faeries and powerful witches along with humans so much more could have happened on their quest. instead we mainly all we got was their relationship and sex. I will still read the series.

Wish it was a different narrator

A great story, but I couldn’t get past the narration. Her accent is so thick with a few of her different voices and hard to understand sometimes I had trouble getting through this listen. Overall I enjoyed this book. A good introduction into the romantasy genre. A moderate amount of spice, and not at all triggering. I also loved the inclusivity of the characters!

Good pace, good story!

I love that the author gives the reader credit for being able to build the story as we go instead of hammer on forever in the beginning to build a whole back story. I like that the story finds new layers throughout the book. Good character development and plot twists. Spicy is there but if you’re looking for super spice it’s not there but maybe it will step up in the following books. I definitely liked it and just got the next two books.

Story good, romance awful

As others have said the narration could be better because of weird accents that aren’t really consistent, but it is ok and I wouldn’t take off for it if that were the only issue. The story itself is also ok. It has real potential to be engaging down the line. However as others have also said, the romance novel aspect is just really bad. It reads like a skit making fun of romance novels. I had to cringe quite a few times, almost embarrassed to listen to it. If I hadn’t already spent my free credits on the series I probably wouldn’t listen to the next one based on that aspect. I’m hopeful from reviews that it’s gets better and starts being more fantasy and less drugstore romance into the series.

amazing book and even better LGBTQ representation

OMG. this is a good storyline and captivating. the narrator is good. took a bit to get used to the tone though. but the best part was the LGBT representation. this is the first book I've read where a character was enby. absolutely made my day.

Very court of thorns vibe

It was pretty good.
Sorry is pretty generic I feel like but it wasn't bad.
Literally the only horrible thing was this narrators inability to speak with a purposeful accent and dialect. She made the main character should like a scared little girl constantly. And don't get me started on her version of the males. If she would have just read the book normally I probably would have given 3 stars. But overall dnt recommend this reader, and I have heard A LOT of audiobooks. This is by far the worst.
