Publisher's summary

In hiding all her life, Layala prepares for the day the wicked High Elf King Thane will come to steal her—his powerful mate. She trains to take her revenge for the wrongful execution of her parents, who died for her freedom.

Now that day has come, forcing her to come face-to-face with what she’s hidden from: a dangerous, dark-haired, warrior king determined to marry her.

After she’s shoved into a black carriage pulled by six ominous steeds, Layala makes plans to take her captors’ lives and free herself...

...but Thane has a secret that makes it impossible for Layala to slay him. She has an even darker truth that makes loving her forbidden, no matter how much Thane wants to touch.

Love this story - hate the fake British accent

I have listened to other books by this narrator with her American accent and loved them, but her British accent is so fake that it’s painful to listen to. I wish it had just been read normally - I love the book itself and bought the audio version to re-listen in preparation for reading book 2 but I can’t get through it.

High fantasy books don’t require British accent narrations. Especially not fake accents.

Lame

I found this to be entirely boring and cringy. It’s predictable as well, which might be worse.

didn't see that coming

this book is about a girl who is bound to marry an evil prince who she will have to share her magic with, little dies anyone realize what her power really is.
I love the banter and determination of the main characters and the cliffhanger is one that will throw you for a loop.
the slow vutn tension is perfection and I can't wait for book 2.
Bridget Bordeaux as always gives an exciting performance that really draws you in and makes you feel the story. all yhe excitement and hi's as well as lows.. another reason she is one of my favorite narrators that drew me so heavily I to audio..
definitely recommend and book 2 is locked and ready

Disappointed to say the least

I heard so many people rave about this book for me to listen to the story and just feel lacklustered by it. The main characters are neat individuals and some sparks and jabs occurred. However, i cannot help but feel like the plot just died and tried to start over at the end. Also, why is it called bow to the elf queen when she isnt even a queen yet? I dont get it. I will return this book since i dont plan on listening to its sequals.

Couldn’t stop listening!

This book had it all and the second one is available on audible. It’s not linked properly, but if you look up the title you can find it. Enjoy!

Good story, terrible narrators.

I loved the story, but had to quit listening to it on audible & read it on my kindle instead. The two narrators were just not right. The woman was slightly easier to tolerate, but the man’s was pure awful. He would just randomly say sentences in her POV chapters & it sounded so choppy. Probably not the biggest deal, but it irked my nerves so bad I kept exiting out of audible. Don’t waste your time trying to listen to it here. Read it yourself, either with a hardcopy or kindle.

it was good

moved really slow and was not what I was expecting when it was recommended to me. overall it was a good book but the main character was....aggressively dense and the plot was easily deciphered early in the book.
