A must-listen for every couple

My husband and I have been married for 14 years, and we’d read a lot of the typical marriage books out there. Stan Tatkin’s approach is so different and so simple, but it was like a neon sign for both of us. It basically comes down to taking care of your partner and helping them feel securely attached. That’s the bare bones of it. But you need to listen to it to get the full picture. I’d never felt so understood as I did when I listened to the chapter on attachment styles. Mind-blowing, honestly.

This is so easy to listen to as well. Stan sounds like he’s having a conversation with you, almost podcast-like.

I’m going to recommend this to every couple I know, whether their relationship is solid, rocky, or in between.

By far one of the best relationship books ever!

If you could sum up Your Brain on Love in three words, what would they be?

Good, practical advice!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Your Brain on Love?

A number of times I almost expected a light bulb to appear above my head; because I was confronted with one "A-ha!" moment after another as he explained the material. He uses years of relationship counselling experience to give good, solid advice.

He explains complex, scientific brain neuroscience in simple terms with enough information to really help the reader grasp the concept. Then he helps you understand that none of the personality types are "wrong" or "right" and how you can best relate to any of them. I love the simplicity with which he explains these concepts and the practical advice he gives for each.

Any additional comments?

This should be a compulsory book for every person to read. He presents it so well, without judgement and gives such brilliant advice. His ultimate goal is to help people build solid, secure relationships and I believe that he gives the reader sufficient tools to accomplish that.

very informative and applicable to real life

loved it! it was well paced and easy to understand. He made it feel like a direct conversation or intimate Ted talk more than an audiobook and his voice was soothing. was recommended this by a therapist friend and I would recommend it to anyone interested in strengthening a relationship or curious about how to make theirs more effective and easy to navigate. goes well with a deep understanding or no previous understand of psych because he does not go too deep into very dry interworkings of the mind but doesn't talk down to the listener. I listened to this once with my partner on a road trip and once on my own and it has been helpful and a fantastic listen.

As a single person…

I thought this was incredibly mind opening and revealing. I felt like I saw a lot of people in my life, friends, family, lovers etc and how our relationships either thrive or kind of continue to set us back. Really enjoyable listen.

Very powerful tools to understand relationship dynamics.

This book helped me understand things I’ve long known about myself, and also understand how my partner is different. I have clarity to move forward through difficult issues. The distinctions presented-island, wave, anchor- are so real and accurate; very helpful to understand our situation, how to improve and also have compassion. Thank you for this book.

As powerful as the 5 love languages

So many great insights. I would recommend to singles, newly married, engaged couples. It’s definitely great to listen to with your partner so you both can understand each other better.
