Publisher's summary

A full one-fifth of the United States has engaged in consensual non-monogamy (CNM) at some point in their lives, and 29 percent of adults under 30 today consider open relationships to be morally acceptable—yet there are few resources to turn to when it comes to navigating this more non-traditional and explorative territory.

Picking up where CNM self-help books like Open Up, The Ethical Slut, and More Than Two leave off, Open Deeply tackles the most difficult challenges posed by CNM. Therapist Kate Loree—who has practiced non-monogamy since 2003, and who specializes in treating clients who also practice non-monogamy—pulls no punches as she uses vignettes based on her own life, as well as her clients’ experiences, to illustrate the highs, lows, and in-betweens of life as a consensual non-monogamist. Interwoven with these stories are thorough explanations of how attachment theory impacts non-monogamy, how blending cutting-edge, neurobiology-informed grounding skills with effective communication skills will make even the most challenging conversations regarding non-monogamy manageable, and more. The result is a compassionate, attachment-focused template for non-monogamy that will allow listeners to avoid pitfalls and find adventure while concurrently building healthy relationships.

Non-monogamy is a wild and woolly ride—and Open Deeply is here to help make it a great one.

Ethical slut 2.0

having read majority of, and incapable of finishing, Ethical Slut I came into this book hesitant. Though the content of the aforementioned was credible, the presentation was dry. However, the way Kate Loree LMFT presents this information is refreshing. She gives historical and scientific based information just as is presented in Sex At Dawn, but she doesn't stay there. She blends in personal experiences along with great first hand accounts of real world interactions. It really takes the porn aspect most of us are given for ethical non-monogamy or even mongam-ish. There was an abundance of knowledge to be gleamed for just general relationship improvement. Highly recommend anyone who's ever considered or fantasized about non-monogamy to read this book.

A must have resource

I was originally afraid of this book simply by the title. What is deep inside my is terrifying at times. I have been in an ENM relationship for 5 years and am part of a podcast on our experience. I have access and been exposed to most of the resources in this space.

This resource is a must to navigate this space and grow. Kate is amazing and is living her value system in real life. I have had the pleasure of meeting her in person. Her in person presentations are powerful.

The book is something I will be relying on through my journey. It is well paced, professionally narrated and worth every penny.

Highest recommendations!

Very important book

This is trauma-informed, consent focused, and practical. I can't recommend it highly enough! If you're getting into some form of non-monogamy, especially if you had trauma, a mood disorders, etc. this is a very useful resource.

Phenomenal book

I've already recommended this book to a few friends. This is the first non-monogamy book that I've felt was balanced. Thorough. It does a good job filling in the holes/gaps many of the other books leave.

ABSOLUTELY MUST READ!!

If you are even remotely considering entering into a ENM relationship, drop everything and read this book, right now. It's not an easy endeavor and Kate masterfully hits on so many things you'll ultimately run into. it may save your ENM relationship. It's long, dense, thought provoking, and WORTH IT! There's also a podcast!

An excellent resource

As a couple we are always looking for resources to improve our relationship and building a list of excellent books for others wanting to grow and explore. This book offers insights into attachment woundings, issues of trust and communication challenges that will give all couples new skills to navigate life together. Whether you are monogamous, monogamish, swingers, or poly this book will help you to have important conversations and have a greater understanding of yourself and what you need to feel secure, playful and desired. I recommend everyone read this book and if you discover things you are intrigued by or have an aversion to; then this book was beneficial on your journey of self care and a deeper understanding of the self.

A great resource for difficult conversation

Even for those that aren’t non monogamous, I think I’d a great relationship resource. I’ll be recommending this book to clients and friends who struggle communicating in their relationships, no matter the relationship structure.

So very useful! A staple in our library

Kate’s book is just like talking to your best friend- albeit, your very knowledgeable best friend. With real life examples and tools you can put to use when things get tricky it’s definitely a must have. Anyone who is navigating non-monogamy should have this book in their arsenal of resources! We have gone back to it time and time again. And that’s saying a lot because we own all of the most popular books on non monogamy. Thank you Kate- you’re a gift to this world!

I am in love with Kate Loree

So the review title will hold true for me for a long time.

This book covers attachment styles in an easy to digest manner. this book covers old hurts that come up in the present and how to work with them. She gives gentle but firm guidance on how to stand up for your own boundaries. She writes on how to be compassionate to your partners. A book full of examples is greatly needed, and she has delivered!!

My only critic: she doesn't really cover solo polyamorous peoples situations, but I am guessing that that is due to a lack of personal experience with it, not that she doesn't know about it.

I love this book and shall be recommending it to plenty of others!!!!
