In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Story
John Bradshaw is arguably the most accomplished and well-known leader alive today in the addictions field. He taught us about functional and dysfunctional families, showed us how shame could become toxic and poisonous to our core selves, and helped us understand and heal the wounded, vulnerable "inner child" conceived by, and thriving in, that environment. In Post-Romantic Stress Disorder (PRSD), Bradshaw gives readers a clear explanation of the difference between falling in love, lust, and true love.

Three decades of research and clinical practice have led Harville Hendrix to pinpoint four essential "non-negotiable" keys to creating and sustaining a healthy, loving relationship. In this workshop, he will help couples: understand what prevents them from achieving the type of relationship they aspire to; discover how to cultivate those habits that can create the conditions that permit such a relationship to blossom; and practice the Imago Dialogue, a three-step process that offers us a highly effective tool to transform our dream about our relationship into reality.

In The Blank Slate, Steven Pinker, one of the world's leading experts on language and the mind, explores the idea of human nature and its moral, emotional, and political colorings. With characteristic wit, lucidity, and insight, Pinker argues that the dogma that the mind has no innate traits, denies our common humanity and our individual preferences, replaces objective analyses of social problems with feel-good slogans, and distorts our understanding of politics, violence, parenting, and the arts.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1974 and the culmination of a life's work, The Denial of Death is Ernest Becker's brilliant and impassioned answer to the "why" of human existence. In bold contrast to the predominant Freudian school of thought, Becker tackles the problem of the vital lie: man's refusal to acknowledge his own mortality. In doing so, he sheds new light on the nature of humanity and issues a call to life and its living that still resonates more than 30 years after its writing.

Story
A smart and funny book by a prominent Harvard psychologist, which uses groundbreaking research and (often hilarious) anecdotes to show us why we’re so lousy at predicting what will make us happy–and what we can do about it. Most of us spend our lives steering ourselves toward the best of all possible futures, only to find that tomorrow rarely turns out as we had expected. Why? As Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert explains, when people try to imagine what the future will hold, they make some basic and consistent mistakes.

Just because you write it doesn't mean you should read it
The performances detract from the outstanding content - I had to buy the hard copy to get through the material because the material is that good and the performances are that bad. May want to redo the audio with professional voice actors to make it a truly excellent resource for couples to listen to together.

Life Changing
The concepts that are taught in this book opened my eyes to so many things in my life, and I feel like I have a much better understanding about my own decisions in the past and what I can do to strengthen my relationships going forward. I truly think that if these concepts were taught in school and were common knowledge, more people would have loving and healthy relationships. I’ll be reading this book many times over my lifetime to really learn the concepts and put them into action.
I do understand why some people think the authors performance could be better, but I still liked hearing them read their own book. If you don’t love it, I recommend grabbing a paper copy. The book is to insightful and helpful to miss.

The 8yr old inside of me
Wow very profound book and inward perspective. I consider myself a very conscious being but did not do delve into some of the childhood spaces that were highlighted in this great book. it challenged me to look even deeper to become self aware of what type of person i could attract and. identify the reasons why. i so appreciated this book in becoming the best version of myself
