Publisher's summary

An Officio Assassinorum story.

On the Knight World of Dominion, a Vindicare and a Callidus Assassin are tasked with eliminating a seditious leader and safely steering a pro-Imperial candidate to the throne.

Listen to it because....

Kingmaker shows the fascinating relationship between two very different temples of the Assassinorum, as two agents navigate the complex social hierarchy of a Knight World. The stakes are high and the pressure is on, for an Imperial war effort hinges on them executing their duty before disaster strikes.

The story:

The Officio Assassinorum safeguards the future of humanity. Its agents are the bloody-handed, secret saviours of the Imperium, killers charged with achieving the impossible...and Vindicare assassin Absolom Raithe has just been handed the most difficult assignment of his career.

The Knight World of Dominion is on the verge of seceding from the Imperium, its court riven by factionalism and ruled by an increasingly unhinged monarch. With the aid of the shapeshifting Callidus assassin Sycorax, Raithe must remove the king from his throne—and safely steer a pro-Imperial candidate to victory through the brutal succession crisis that will inevitably ensue. His team will need to infiltrate a world steeped in chivalric codes, where every move risks discovery and every threat pilots an adamantine monster...for if the assassins fail, and Dominion falls, the entire sector will be plunged into darkness.

Sometimes confusing

the book was pretty good, the only problem I saw was that the names of people and the names of the knights. it was hard to confirm the name of the person with the name of the knight in which they rode. especially during the climax, I kind of just gave up and followed who was fighting the main people, all the other knights just kind of got lost.

Fun Listen

If you like your grim dark with less space marines and a little more interesting characters, then this is for you. Great story and book but even better as starting point for series...

A fantastic tale of Assassins and Knights

Absolutely captivated by the book from start to finish. the story not only gave us humanizing glimpses into the different assassins in the story, but also telling us more about how their temples operate, and how they go about their mission. not only that but this book is a two for one, giving you a gripping tale about knights, their society in the planet, and some pretty awesome titan fights.

An incredible Spy story set in 40k

Robert Rath takes the same genius and depth he brought to Necrons in the Infinite and The Divine to the assassinorum, and he knocks it out of the park. His skill at writing enemies turned Allies is incredible. Listening to this was like watching a great spy film.

Assinorum at its finest

It was very interesting listen between the different approaches of the assinorum temples and the Knight house politics. Plus the ever present Imperial bureaucracy.

Fun with knights and assassins

This book is cool.
The assassins feel like real secret agents. The knights and the story of Dominion is epic. I want to collect a knight force even more now. Hopefully we get a continuation of the conqueror worm story.

A must Listen if you like assassinorum and Knights

While it starts a bit slow, it's very well done and fits the slow pace. The set up is littered with interest and humor. After the set up it picks up very smoothly. There are many awesome moments for both knight fans and assassin fans.
