Publisher's summary

War is a crucible. Valhalla awaits the worthy.

On the battlefield of the future, armored mechs can turn the tide of any battle. With a nation under threat, a single small force of Armor joins the fight to hold the line against a merciless horde bent on total domination.

Chief Amos Roy - a young soldier haunted by the loss of his brother to the enemy - is thrust into the fight before he’s ready. War is a harsh teacher, and his fellow Armor are just as wary of him as they are the foe.

When the enemy unleashes a mobile battle station with the power to annihilate cities, Roy must prove himself to veteran Armor that he's worthy to fight beside them. Can battle forge a team that will stop the enemy's super weapon?

For here the Armor will find the Iron in their hearts and the spirit to win any war. Even if nothing but embers of defiance remains.

The ember wars continues from the beginning.

OK I leave a comment. The ember wars continues this time from the beginning. The author has a tremendous imagination in this series, if this is the 1st book of the series that you listen to you have many many many many many many many many more to listen to and I still haven't listened all of them. The author of these books is great, when does this guy breathe and when he has time to do anything but write books but appreciate that. Now with all of these books in series, we won't even try name of all the books, when is the movie coming out. This series has the capability of rivalling Halo yes I said it rivalling Halo .

Great series tie up.

Great storyline and fantastic wrap up to some questions left in the original ember war series.

Especially liked the outtakes at the end.
As an Australian I was ever so mildly offended at the accent and Emu is pronounced "e-m-you" not "e-moo". But it was entertaining non the less.

Loved the Elias and Cullen back stories especially.

Well worth the credits.

Outstanding!

Your prequel is worthy of listening to again and again to understand how each characters became the warriors the became. it would be nice if there was another one focusing on the Marines and armors fight aginst the Chinese hegemony. your us of Marine Corps facts in the stories gives this old Devil Dog a grin. keep up the good work!!

Great Background

Pre story, enjoyable on it's own I think. I had forgotten alot as had been some time since I read the last Ember Wars book I have. toward the end I started recalling different characters, especially in the bonus short stories & connecting the dots. I like learning origins of characters & it brought back how much I had liked the series. I hadn't finished it but now I'm more interested going back to explore more of this universe.
Luke Daniels is a pretty good narrator & has a broad range of voices & accents, making it easy to distinguish characters.

Another Ember Wars Homerun

I've listened to all the books in the Ember Wars saga and they are by far my favorite books by my favorite author.. The way he develops his characters and makes you interested not only in the "good guys" but the "bad guys" as well and it is something I haven't really found in any other author and having Luke Daniels narrate is just a bonus because he brings the characters to life.. I think he could easily do a spin-off on either of these characters Miles Standish aka Standish, Steuben or Marc Ibarra aka Markybara or maybe even Malal.. With all that out of the way I'll say this book is as good as the others and I'd definitely recommend it.. Though I can say my only disappointment with this book is how short it was (roughly 6.5 hrs) which I listened to in a day and even though I listened to them again I had already listened to Iron Hearts, Vent Rates, Schism, Going Dark, The Iron Within and The Anvil which are all great listens I just wish I could've had 4+ more hours of something I haven't heard yet because I don't know what Mr' Fox has planned for his next release and when it'll happen..
