These stories written in the 1980s vary in length from under 1000 to over 10,000 words. Some are set in historical times, others are contemporary, but all share to a larger or lesser degree a common focus as variations on themes of appearance and reality, identity and illusion, semblance and coincidence, duplication and duplicity. The settings are all European and most of those which are contemporary are sited in Provence and the French Riviera.
