Story
When Rob and Charlene Spierer dropped their daughter, Lauren, off at Indiana University in 2009, they felt she was in a safe place and had nothing at all to worry about. But what they didn't know was Bloomington had its dark side, an underground culture of booze and drugs and a totally carefree and careless lifestyle - of which, unknown to them, Lauren had become a part. But...was it true? Had she really become involved in this culture, or was it all simply rumors started by someone who was wanting to cover up the real truth?

Story
Katie Elder was more, much more, than the title character in John Wayne's 1965 western,The Sons of Katie Elder. She was more than the portrayal by Faye Dunaway in the 1971 film, Doc." Katie Elder was a real person, whose background was perhaps more plaid than checkered. Some historians of the Old West believe she was Mrs. Doc Holliday, and some don't. Either way, she was quite a bit more than the "plainswoman" that revisionist history books call her.

Story
Over a century before the public coined the term "serial killer" to describe prolific killer Ted Bundy, there were serial killers who made Bundy seem mild in comparison. In Infamous Killers from the Past, author Brian lee Tucker has assembled 15 profiles of some of the most prolific and vicious killers that ever lived - and were killing long before the term "serial killer" existed.

Story
I am constantly amazed – and somewhat bewildered – by the amount of Hollywood and indie produced films that seem to glorify and sensationalize serial killers. And even placing a romantic spin on low life dirt-bags like Ted Bundy is almost too much to bear. The man almost radiated evil like a supernova. What is even more strange is, while filmmakers continue to spew out films starring handsome, normal looking men {Ted Bundy was one of the only men to fit into this category} they seem to totally ignore some of the most prolific and vicious serial killers in history. Now don't get me wrong; I am not saying that I believe that any serial killer should be made famous for their crimes, gain celebrity status. But is has always left me totally confused as to why so many unheard of killers haven't shown up in popular media. Hell, some of these guys even have web sites dedicated to them, as well as a lot of loyal fans and followers of their crimes. Some of them even have 'groupies' who follow their favorite killer's every move, news articles, etc., in order to keep up with them. Some of these groupies have even married their favorite serial killer. Love is truly blind, I guess. After listening to this audiobook, maybe more people will not only have a more clear view into the mind of a serial killer, but may also be as mystified as I am as to why serial killers seem to be so prevalent in popular media.

Fixer was sitting at his kitchen table, looking over old Polaroid photos of his son and daughter when they were kids. I have to fix this with Cheryl. The idea clamored for his attention. There is no one to blame for this stupidity but myself. I'll beg Cheryl’s mercy and forgiveness. I’ll go into treatment. I’ll join AA. He really did need a drink this time; hunting down a cold-hearted, remorseless, bloodthirsty man-eater like Spencer Carlin would be the biggest case of his career.

Murder suspect Steven Leyendecker was the poster boy for a good profile makeup.

Story
The city streets are a carnival, they are burlesque. The city moves like an insect. It scurries. Neon beats against the window like a probe, even in the day. And somewhere, buried deep within this crazy world, are two killers who call this place home. One of them, a man whose birth given name was Kenneth Bianchi but whom his friends know as Ken, waits in the shadows sipping beer and smoking a cigarette and watching the show with delightful glee.

Story
The revolving door for convicted, violent felons has to stop. Each year, more and more and more violent felons are constantly chewed up and spit back out into our society again and again, in no way rehabilitated, and carrying a grudge on their shoulders for being locked up to begin with. They are like a human time bomb, just waiting to explode, and won't hesitate to take as many innocent victims as they can down with them. Why? Because our current judicial system is a joke. But it can change - if we speak out.

Henry lee Lucas was a serial killer, there's no doubt about that fact. But, as far as his seemingly endless barrage of confessions were concerned, the validity of a lot of those confessions was questionable at best. But whether it is true or not, I hope this story will help clear up at least some of the mystery behind his long list of confessions.

If there was ever a man that could be considered the personification of evil and cruelty, it was Larry Eyler. One of the many serial killers who struggled with the fact that he was homosexual, Larry Eyler was the youngest of four children brought up in Indiana. In March of 1982, it all began. And like transient serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, Eyler literally got away with murder because of his usual MO; never or at least very rarely killing in the same area twice.

In The Dead Girls, author Brian Lee Tucker examines the lives of six different women who, having lived on the streets for far too long, have now been pushed over the edge of sanity - and have finally become what they themselves had always feared the most. Among them is Donna, the fledgling serial killer who, born with a facial deformity that made her a social outcast, now peels the faces off of beautiful girls to wear as her own; and Gina, a barfly whose tendency to be promiscuous has led her into the lair of a murderous Picasso....

Story
"She was a beautiful little imp; slender, blonde haired, blue-eyed and wearing a pair of cutoff jeans, a tube top, and open toed sandals..." So begins the most recent novel by Derrick Cutter, a novelist who, haunted by his own inner demons as a teenager, met and ran away with the girl of his dreams. Little did he know that he would soon be thrust into a world even darker than his own, filled with ritual abuse and murder, the aftermath of which may ironically prove to be good fodder for his best novel yet.
