  • S2E12 Fear, The Messenger
    May 24 2024

Fear. The tiny 4-letter word that runs your emotional show! Fear underpins all anxiety, resentment, and painful relationships that make your life difficult. Can we really rid ourselves of it? Is being completely "fearless" attainable? For most of us, this natural human instinct is here to stay (on some level), so how can we use it as a messenger, showing us where to lean in and grow.

This episode is packed with tips and tools for becoming aware of when and how fear is driving you and suggestions for how to step into it (scared, not fearless!) and emerge from it transformed. Learn the value of exposing fear with the intention of transmuting it into an energy that no longer hinders, but transforms you into the highest version of yourself, which is love.

Key conversations to listen for include:

    • The topic of death and how to accept the reality that everyone dies, and how to put this universal fear in perspective
    • How to recognize fear and use it as a tool to set boundaries
    • We cannot let fear consume us, rather we need to acknowledge it, heal it, and move through it with the intention to be love
    • Ginny and Amanda's greatest fears and how they manage them by seeking the real fear under the surface fear
    • Calming fear by asking yourself: What if the story I'm teling myself is not true?
    • Using a frame of reference to show yourself how you walked through fear before and most likely came out the other side wiser and stronger
    • How being of service naturally eliminates fear
    • Fear is ALWAYS under anger, and how to get honest about what's really going on
    • Becoming aware of how the news uses fear as a tactic to divide us and keep us out of our power
    • And more!

Stick around till the end to hear one of the best suggestions of the show!

  • S2E10 Stumbling Into Authenticity
    Apr 26 2024

How do you know if you are being authentic? What does it feel like to show up as your true self in all situations regardless of the risk of being judged or losing a relationship? And have you explored your authenticity through the lens of your internal emotional response rather than how you present to the world?

Amanda & Ginny take the authenticity conversation to a much deeper level, beyond your outward expression of self and into what it means to be true to your heart. They also explore:

    • Tools for stepping into your authenticity and maintaining it, such as consciously and consistently checking motives for your behavior.
    • How to change your conditioned response to things when feeling misaligned.
    • The moment you suddenly realize you don't have to work so hard at being authentic because you finally are authentic.
    • Authenticity may feel strange at first because you aren't used to it.
    • Changing "the dance moves" in a relationship, and how the other person may try different ways to keep dancing the way they are used to because its familiar to them.
    • Why we stay in unhealthy relationships even though they are painful.
    • Unlearning old programming to embrace the real you.
    • The importance of being mindful of how you truly feel in situations instead of reacting out of muscle memory.
    • And so much more!

Books mentioned in this show are:

  • S2E9 Next Level Self-Care with Marsha C.
    Apr 12 2024

How do you define self-care? Many of us know it goes beyond a girls night out or a spa day. Many of us also know self-care involves boundary setting, or not being a people-pleaser. But have you considered self-care in terms of the choices you make and how the ramifications of that choice affect you? Or the resentment you may hold against yourself for making that choice.

Join Amanda and her guest, Marsha C., Spiritual Midwife and host of Her Sacred Soul Space Podcast, for a next-level discussion on the inconspicuous ways we choose to show ourselves love through self-care, as well as the ways in which we unconsciously choose to hurt ourselves because our self-worth is suffering.

    We also talk about:

    • Loving all the parts of you, not just the ones you judge as good
    • The importance of a holistic self-care perspective
    • How self-resentment can show us how to make a better decision the next time because we are more aligned with our truth
    • Reaching the place where we truly want to take care of ourselves and the small ways we do that (which are not really small at all!).
    • Marsha's shroom journey and how she healed her inner child
    • How self-worth is a prerequisite for self-care

Marsha helps women who are in their birthing season, especially those who are breast cancer survivors and have a hard time accepting their new normal. She teaches them how to spiritually reconnect with themselves so they can have a soul-centered (mind, body, spirit) transformation. Marsha uses several wellness methodologies garnered during her personal journey with breast cancer to help women discover and birth their purpose.

The book Marsha talks about is called The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn.

  • S2E8 The Many Faces of Grief
    Mar 29 2024

What do you think of when you hear the word grief? The death of a loved one, a pet, a divorce? Grief manifests in so many ways other than death, such as moving, your children's stages of development, losing a friendship or a wish about how you want something to be. And have you considered why it's so hard to let go, even of the things we know are not good for us?

Join Amanda & Ginny as they journey into all things grief. Understand how to spot it and move through it in a way that serves your personal development.

    Other ideas they unpack are:

    • The biggest form of loss we do not recognize as loss is change...any change, good or "bad."
    • The importance of recognizing and processing smaller, daily losses so your pain doesn't come out sideways and hurt others.
    • Loss is just as much a part of life as love and if we cannot embrace feelings of loss and grief, we cannot embrace feelings of love and joy.
    • Authenticity, and following your soul calling, can be difficult because we fear a lack of approval or acceptance, which brings feeling of loss.
    • Being okay if someone chooses to withhold their love from you because you've made a decision they don't agree with.
    • Honoring all the parts of us, especially the dark parts, as a pathway forward through grief.
    • Resistance to loss happens because it reminds us of childhood emotional abandonment.
    • And so much more!

  • S2E6 Demystifying Meditation
    Feb 23 2024

Have you ever felt overwhelmed or intimidated by the idea of meditation? What aspects of it are challenging to you? Do you think meditation is only for those with a specific mindset or spiritual practice?

Ginny and Amanda discuss the mental, emotional, and physical benefits of meditation, address common misconceptions which hold people back from meditating, and guide you through various types of meditation in this inspirational and informative show!

    They talk about:

    • An amazing study by the David Lynch Foundation conducted in inner city schools that proved meditation works to lower rates of violence, increase attendance rates, and raise GPA's. Link below.
    • Physical benefits of meditation including lowering levels of stress, inflammation, and blood pressure as well as enhancing concentration.
    • Different practices such as transcendental, contemplative, and Metta meditation.
    • The mantra Amanda uses (and millions of other people) during Metta meditation that puts her in a state of oneness with herself and every living thing on Earth.
    • Meditation as a tool to tap into your higher consciousness and find your purpose.
    • Amanda's personal meditation practice including a grounding technique, an original prayer (patched together from various sources), cord cutting, and chakra clearing.
    • The importance of breathwork and the science of engaging the vagus nerve to bring a sense of calm.
    • An inner child meditation to bring you to a state of self-love and self-worth.
    • And much more!

CORRECTION: The neurotransmitter that activates the calm response when engaging the vagus nerve is acetylcholine...not acetylcholide.

  • S2E5 Finding Your Spiritual Personality with Melissa Ebken
    Feb 9 2024

What does it mean to have a "spiritual personality?" Do you know yours? And where exactly are you on your spiritual journey?

Melissa Ebken, host of the Pursuing Uncomfortable podcast, coach, and pastor (definitely not your typical pastor!) will help you define which of the 4 spiritual types you lean toward: sage, feeler, mystic, or advocate. Advancing the work of Corrine Ware on spiritual types, Melissa breaks down each type and explains how understanding your type can help you to make the most of your spiritual practices.

    We also delve into:

    • How knowing your type will help you to identify the parts of you that need healing in order to serve your spiritual growth and the world around you better.
    • How each type is dynamically connected to another with the intention to help you grow.
    • The example of journaling and how each type might journal based on their motivation for seeking.
    • James Fowler's "Five Stages of Faith," which is similar to Maslow's hierachy of needs but translates to spiritual development.
    • The importance of knowing context of scripture before making an assumption as to its meaning.
    • The uniting spiritual thread that ties every human being together is that our body, mind, and soul is one entity and we each have that one entity in common.
