Hanna Harp’s incendiary debut paranormal dark romance, perfect for fans of Sadie Kincaid’s Forged in Blood and Keri Lake’s Anathema, follows Cade, a devoted hunter fighting to shield his sister Callisto from a haunting generational curse, but when a mysterious spirit begins to break down his defenses, both his passion and his will ignite into a scorching, fourth-wall breaking read that places you at the heart of the story.

Warning: This is not just a book. It’s an invitation. A contract sealed the moment you turn the page. If you choose to read, you choose to be seen. If you choose to follow him, he will hunt you. This story does not end when you close the book...

Cade Halloway is a hunter, raised by the Order of the Covenant—a cult built on blood, sacrifice, and power. He tracks and eliminates the powerful and corrupt. A predator disguised as a savior, but he’s not here to save the innocent. He’s here to rip apart the monsters who hide in plain sight. For years, he has been their weapon. Until he discovered the truth...his sister Callisto is slated to be their next offering.

Callisto Halloway was supposed to die for the Order, but her brother has other plans. While in hiding, unable to help or fight, she spends her time trying to control the power she was born with, the power that the Order will kill for. But independence comes at a price, and her uncontrolled power summons a demon far more dangerous than the Order. One that wants more than her body or her soul.

Now, on the run from the Order, Cade’s only purpose is to save his sister. But Callisto’s power has consequences. There’s now an unseen force—a spectral presence—following Cade he can’t explain and can't escape. A presence that breaks down all of his defenses, and tears down walls even he didn’t know he had built, as he finds himself drawn to it in mind, spirit, and body. And it may be the only thing that can save him and Callisto.

You.

I saw the promotion on Tik Tok from Ms. Hannah, and the second I heard that Teddy Hamilton was the voice actor for the main character Cade I was excited and bought this audiobook. But, how the author pushed it was the main male character Cade was breaking the fourth wall, and obsessed with the reader. Well there IS some hints towards that fact, this story does NOT seem like how she advertised. I did finish the book, because I wanted to support the author. But just some thoughts I had were the plot was a bit scattered, especially towards the end of the book. It had me stopping as I listened and saying “huh” to myself a few times. The female main character Callie seemed to be the main focus, but her character progression confused me. Alabastor and her’s ’relationship’ was like hinting at slow burn/dark but…it wasn’t typical? Again, not a horrible read, good work for the author, but for those who are getting into it: the main focus is NOT Cade and the reader.

I loved the fact that you as a reader are part of the book and that the main characters are acknowledging your presence. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one to come out.

Absolutely love this book.

I'm not gonna lie, it took me a several chapters to get into it but it finally captured my attention. The story is entertaining enough but the voice actors were incredible and the way I grinned like a schoolgirl every time Cade (Teddy Hamilton) spoke to me was ridiculous. He made it feel like I was actually part of story. The author did a great job at writing us into in. I must say, I am looking forward to the next book and I hope Teddy Hamilton reads for Cade again. *swoon*

so, I have mixed reviews. i pre-order the book to read on my kindle. I read up to chapter 25 and I was honestly disappointed. I didnt feel connected to the characters and it felt rushed. I was more interested and connected to the FMC and her love interest. when this was advertised it was supposed to be about you the reader being the love interest of the main character. but lets all be honest here. Cade was not the main character in this book. his sister was and quite frankly Alabaster more so even then Cade. so that left me feeling very disappointed. I just couldn't get into it. so I figured I would listen to the Audio book. now the story is still mainly about the sister and her demon, but Having Cade actually talk to you and hearing his thoughts was a lot easier to get connected to him rather than reading it. The voice actors were all very top notch. loved them! So I would recommend this as an audio book and audio book only. Not a great read, but a fun, albeit very rushed romance, book to listen to. I do hope that the future of the series gives Cade more time, or even just his book like I thought this was supposed to be in the first place. That would be fantastic. really delve into the bond between you and him and his life. Thats my review for this. Needs a lot of work, alittle rushed, not a great read, but a fun listen.

its much better as a audiobook
