"Writing is structure,” William Goldman said, but too often aspiring writers plunge into their work without grasping this fundamental principle. Story structure is one of the most important concepts for a writer to understand - and ironically, one of the least frequently taught. In this book, New York Times best-selling author William Bernhardt explains the elements that make stories work, using examples spanning from Gilgamesh to The Hunger Games.

Just as every great meal starts with a recipe, every epic novel starts with an epic outline. But is an outline really necessary? Can’t you just wing it? Isn’t all that time on an outline better spent on actually writing? And doesn’t an outline just pour water on that spark of creativity? That’s what you may have heard…until now! Practical, Useful Advice for Writing Fiction
As an aspiring author myself, I always love finding new authors and ways of approaching writing fiction. Blaine Hart's book is a great resource for new and experienced authors seeking guidance on the sometimes-daunting journey to creating a work of fiction. Not only does he cover basic mechanics such as how to outline, create memorable characters, and structure the novel, but he also includes tips on getting into your creative flow state in order to maximize your creativity. All in all, this book is an excellent resource for writers of all ages and in all stages of their career.

"Writing Fiction" Has Given Me Courage to Write
Would you listen to Writing Fiction: The Top 100 Best Strategies for Writing Fiction Stories again? Why?
I would definitely listen to "Writing Fiction: The Top 100 Best Strategies for Writing Fiction Stories" again. I have been wanting to write a short story, and I have had the idea in my head for the longest time. I honestly have no idea where to begin, nor how to write the story. Well, while I listen to the audio books, I take as many notes as possible. I know that as I listen, and take notes, I am possibly missing something. so I will start the audio over again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
"Writing Fiction" is a self-help/self-improvement book, so there are no characters. However, if there were I would have to two. One would be Blaine Hart for writing the book, and Joshua Mackey for narrating it.
Which scene was your favorite?
There are no scenes in this book, but what I chose is what I liked best about the book. "In this book you will discover everything you need to do in order to write a successful, exciting, and well-structured fiction story. You'll discover the things that you can do before you actually start writing, how to get into the creative flow state, how to structure and design your book, and things you can do once you've reached the end of the story. Plot, characters, dialogue, techniques, and strategy." These are the parts of the book that I need to learn more about, and thanks to Blaine Hart, I understand a lot better.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
