The Narration is Awful!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator over dramatizes everything. Where oh where is Kristen Potter?

Would you be willing to try another book from J. D. Tyler? Why or why not?

I love JD Tylers books but will read any others that are narrated by Marguerite Gavin.

What didn’t you like about Marguerite Gavin’s performance?

It's just awful. She is the wrong narrator for this series because of her poor performance I will never get another book narrated by her.

Was Wolf's Fall worth the listening time?

No, read this one if you're a fan of the series.

J.D. Tyler yes. Marguerite Gavin no

Who was your favorite character and why?

All of them. Kirsten Potter had established these characters in all the previous books in this series..this is why the narrator was so awful...she had no concept of how the characters had been developed and so her voice portrayls did not fit the story concept. The storyline as always was great and in keeping w/the series.

How could the performance have been better?

KRISTEN POTTER IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE WHAT COULD AND WOULD HAVE MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. Anytime you see her as the narrator, the narration will always be character driven and each of them will have their own distinct voices. Look up her name and get the different Highlander series she narrates, by Maya Banks.....Rowan Keats. Dianne Duvall has a series narrated by her that is great.

Was Wolf's Fall worth the listening time?

NO....this one has to be read as oppose to audible listening alone. All the others in this series is so worth the credit.....and listening time because of Kirsten Potter

If you’ve listened to books by J. D. Tyler before, how does this one compare?

This book was all about the narrator. The previous narrator of the Alpha Park series, Kirsten Potter, drew me into the book with her voice. I'm sorry to say, but Marguerite Gavin made me wish the book would hurry up and end.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The main character's voice was flat, monotone. Like a woman trying too hard to speak like a man. Selene's character's voice was childlike. Aric's sometimes had a southern drawl. The narrator's normal speaking voice was fine.

What character would you cut from Wolf's Fall?

I would not cut anyone from the book.

Narration is Unfortunate

It is not often that I will write a review if I don't care for a book, but this one I had to write. I have been waiting and waiting for Nick's story to be written and was so excited when I saw that it was being released. While the book itself could have been better, I would have been fine with it had it not been for the awful narration. Please go back to Kirsten Potter for this series. She portrays the characters so much better and, unlike this narration, you can actually tell the difference between the male and female characters when they are speaking. This narrator made this story totally unenjoyable for me. :-(

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Maybe it's me... but the story for this pair of mates did not send that jolt I felt as in the previous books... I felt that Nick and Calla were rushed to be mated. Yes, they has some sizzling moments, but alot of their inner struggles & how they overcame them was left out....I mean when Nick finally told Calla that he loved her, my reaction was: "What?Wait! How did that happen?" Honestly, what was happening around them was more entertaining than their story.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

LOVED: When Blue came to the rescue and changed things as we (the readers) have known based on the prior book...Little by little I think I can understand why every female in past books have just downright drooled over Blue.....

HATED: The hunters...I would have hoped that introducing hunters would have given life to an epic battle of humans vs supernatural beings...but sadly, the hunters were more like pawns to be used left and right without a purpose....

Would you listen to another book narrated by Marguerite Gavin?

For myself M.G. is not the worst narrator ever but her style was just not compatible with Kirsten Potter's style. In truth, I picked up this listen keeping an open mind because I was really hooked on this series and wanted to hear Nick's story. I would give M.G. another shot if she has a series narrator or a lone-standing book....

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

In my opinion I think if this was a movie it would be a "C-list" movie.....One of those that look pretty good to watch but only when there is absolutely nothing else out.

Any additional comments?

It's hard to say not worth a credit because this is book 6 into the series...If you are this far into the listens then you are hooked & probably are willing to say 'what the heck' even with the change in narrators...I opted to purchase this since it was on sale :)

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Marguerite Gavin?

Kristin Potter should have been the Narrator for all the books. Changing for Nicks book was a big mistake. Marguerite did not read the characters well at all. Very disappointing.

A bad narrator can kill a book and unfortunately that is what happened with Nicks book. We have waited to hear his story to find out Kristin Potter was not reading the story and the book was doomed. I had to speed up the book just to get through it. Plus JD Tyler did make Nick a little wimpy for an Alpha male.

So, I've read all the Alpha Pack books and this was my least favorite. However, it was nice seeing the others: John Hammer, Jax, Ryon, Zander, Noah, Sariel ( <- my personal favorite,) etc, etc.
I did like Nick and Calla but their angst wasn't that enjoyable. AND it was like the author was unaware of any kind of an endearment except "baby or babe." Good grief, that word was used 39 times, mostly in the second half of the book. That's way too much for one word to be used in a book. So, no, this wasn't my favorite and I think I'm done with this series. I mean, Really? To have to wait 8 or 10 or 12 months for the next book? That's so becoming ridiculous now. This is book 6 and there's supposed to be another 3 or 4 more? So 3 or 4 years of waiting? I've enjoyed it up until now but I'm done. I think I'll stick to trilogies that are all out or if there's 6 or 8 or 10 books to a series I'll read those so there won't be any waiting.

As to the narrator: She was alright. I have no idea why Kirsten Potter didn't narrate this book, like the first 5, but Ms. Gavin didn't do a horrible job. I would definitely listen to her again.

I would definitely try other books from the author, but not the narrator.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Marguerite Gavin?

Never. Going into book 6 of this fantastic series had me very excited....until I heard the narrator. It seemed as though she didn't even listen to the other books to continue in the same direction. She changed the pronunciation of characters names, she gave certain characters an accent when they hadn't had one in the past 5 books and there were MANY times throughout the story that you could tell she'd had to go back and redo certain parts. The problem was, her tone, inflection of her voice and even the volume of her voice changed so drastically, it took away from the story itself. Because so little care was taken to maintain the integrity of the characters, it was a huge disappointment to the series. I believe that if you are going to narrate a book 6 books into a series, you have duty to maintain those characters as closely as possible to their original narrator.

Great story, WRONG narrator!

This book is a great addition to this series, but the narrator nearly ruined it for me. If a narrator is going to be changed in the middle of a series, they need to, at the very least, be required to listen to the previous books and stick with the original pronunciation of people, places and things and not change characters' accents. It saddens me that such a GREAT series can be ruined so easily.

Narrator

Changing the narrator in the middle of the series is like creating a movie trilogy and changing the actors in the middle of the trilogy . It would be like changing Bella in twilight in the middle of the trilogy it just doesn't work. it doesn't sound right . I couldn't even get through the first chapter because of the narration change I will not be buying any of the other books that don't have Kristen Potter narrating.
