One train. No stops. A deadly game of survival and revenge.

In 1942, six people destroyed Anna Matheson’s family. Twelve years later, she’s ready for retribution.

Under false pretenses, Anna has lured those responsible for her family’s downfall onto a luxury train from Philadelphia to Chicago, an overnight journey of thirteen hours. Her goal? Confront the people who’ve wronged her, get them to confess their crimes, and deliver them into the hands of authorities waiting at the end of the line. Justice will at last be served.

But Anna’s plan is quickly derailed by the murder of one of the passengers. As the train barrels through the night, it becomes clear that someone else on board is enacting their own form of revenge—and that they won’t stop until everyone else is dead.

With time running out before the train reaches its destination, Anna is forced to hunt the killer in their midst while protecting the people she hates the most. In order to destroy her enemies, she must first save them—even though it means putting her own life at risk.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Sager knows how to tell a good story that keeps us guessing.”Washington Post

"[A] gripping locked room thriller."–People

“At the top of his game. Sager delivers a thriller so tautly written, so tightly constructed, that readers will emerge from the book breathless and in a mild state of shock. With this book, Sager has committed an act of brilliance.”Booklist

Riley Sager is one of my favorite authors, that being said this book did not deliver in the way I hoped it would. This is more so a personal preference but I really didn’t care for the narrator. With it taking place in the 50s the way her voice sounded, especially for the men, was just too modern… if that makes sense. It was also the way it was written though. I was kind of disappointed, this is the first book of his that I really didn’t love all that much. Maybe I would have enjoyed it better had I physically read it rather than listened to it.

Not my favorite Riley Sager book

I was pretty invested in this whodunnit! Good job, Riley Sager! I loved the locked room/ trapped on a train element

Another Riley sager hit

Started out strong but the end was unrealistic - started to get a bit confusing and far fetched in my opinion.

Started out great didn’t like the ending.

I really liked the setting and backstory in this book, but overall it fell flat for me. It is well-written and has a likable and strong protagonist, but for reasons that are difficult to articulate it didn’t really grip me or elicit a feeling of suspense. I wouldn’t say it was derivative, but at several points it does feel like a plot an AI would have developed after reading every Agatha Christie. I wouldn’t say it was predictable, but it didn’t have me constantly guessing or wrapped anticipation. The constant “twists” felt more annoying than satisfying, yet despite these turns (or maybe because of them) the narrative arc takes a sort of even and monotonous tempo. Finally, the “revelation” at the end is more of a “why” than a “who” or “what,” making me feel a bit cheated.

Not Sager’s best

3.75/5

Okay, finally. A new genre for Sager and he pulled it off. Historical fiction revenge story? I was all in. After his last few flops, I was fully expecting to side-eye my way through this, but I stayed locked in the whole time. The setup was so messy. In a good way. Just shady people doing shady things that snowballed into absolute chaos for Anna’s family. Locked in.

There were a lot of characters to keep track of, and some were more interesting than others *cough* Dante* but the overall story kept the tension going. And I loved the revenge angle. Especially when it started hitting back at people who thought they were off the hook.

Of course, in true Sager fashion, the ending went twist-twist-TWIST, but surprisingly, it didn’t lose me. It was satisfying, and honestly? I’d read a sequel if he made one. Definitely better than his last few. Not perfect, but fun, fast-paced, and actually delivered what it promised.

A GOOD ONE FROM SAGER

I devoured this! Although it may not be my favorite Riley Sager book, I am definitely pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. There were a-lot of people to get straight at the beginning, but once I got that under control, I really was addicted and enjoyed the rest of the ride.

Riley Sager is the Queen! This story was like a rollercoaster in a maze, twists and turns that will give you whiplash………..and I loved every minute of it. This kept me guessing up till the end on so many things. I would be 100% behind this becoming a series of books in the future.

Queen Sager

I've read multiple Riley Sager books and was surprised when the start of this novel mimicked Agatha Christie. I personally love the who done its but was unsure how it would play out and if it'd recommended this book. The plot, setting, and characters were entertaining. I was always second guessing the killer with all the twist and turns. Another great book!

Who done it- Riley did it!
