Narrator

The narrator was good - I feel bad saying this, but NOT the right voice for the story. The story was great. The narrator’s reading was good, it was just wrong voice to the point of distraction:

Narrator+unrealistic ending

The narrator’s voice alone ALMOST convinced me to return this book. The main character was supposed to be an attractive 37 ish year old actress and sounded like a 75 year old smoker. After getting past that, it kept my interest until the end, which was implausible. I think it would have been more tolerable with a different narrator but still would have left me disappointed.

very captivating

Do not listen to other reviews. The narrator was wonderful and the story line of the book was fabulous. I was drawn in by the main character Casey and her determination to solve the case, although it took a very twisting turn at the end!

Love the story

The story here was great. I have heard a lot of complaints about the narration and I get it. It threw me off at first because the narrator sounds so much older than the character is supposed to be. Then I figured maybe she sounds older because maybe she`s an alcoholic? I went with that and got used to it. This story does deal with dark subject matter, but it was a great mystery that kept me guessing.

Spoiler - Not predictable at all

I have read all of Sagers books. If you are not familiar with his previous books they all have twist endings. Last year I was frustrated with another predictable twist ending I saw coming. This year I was hit upside the face with so many twists and turns. It's a refreshing change to the predictable stories of today's time. I was truly surprised

The 1st 2/3 was interesting, the last 1/3 was meh.

The narration was not as bothersome to me as it was to others. I became used to the voice as the story progressed. The story kept me interested until the twist. After the twist a little more than half way through, I lost interest. I try not to give bad reviews as it just not may be my taste. But this book was difficult to finish.

They picked the wrong narrator

This book was decent. I predicted a lot of the twists which didn’t bother me but the narrator was such an odd choice. The main character was young but the person they picked to read the part sounded much older and didn’t really make sense for the tone.

Seriously?

A decent story turned absurd with a supernatural plot line. A complete waste of my time.

Excellent Read

I loved this book from beginning to end!! Each character was well described and the story was so inviting, it sucked me right in. Would love for this story to continue.

Great book, tough listen.

The story is great. I can’t suspend reality enough to believe the voice reading the story is 30 something with the main character of the book. She sounds 80 something and it’s a tough listen. Get the actual book and use the voice in your head for this one.
