Grim, miserable tale

A grim take of torture, homosexual rape and murder at a posh English boarding school. There are no redeeming characteristics here. Narration in this 2 hour audiobook was rushed and difficult to understand. I have enjoyed other books by Elizabeth George but not this one. I cannot recommend.

Good author, poor narrator

I found the narrator very hard to understand. I thought that he spoke too quickly, and didn't enunciate well. I should have listened to the excerpt before buying. There were large segments that I just couldn't hear properly.

Difficult to understand

I found the narration difficult to understand. Narrator did a good job of using different voices for each character, but he used a very strong British accent and spoke very rapidly. This made it difficult to follow the complex story line. Story was interesting and the ending was a surprise.

Poor quality of recording was very distracting.

Quality of recording was very poor. Voices hard to hear and music was scratchy sounding.

If you love Elizabeth George skip this one

This is perhaps the worst recording I have ever tried to listen to from Audible. I downloaded it in several formats and followed all directions on how to improve the audio, but it was barely understandable. because I love her books I slogged on through the story line inspite of missing a lot due to the poor audio! Silly me!

Old recording

Derek Jacobi is, of course, wonderful. But this book is clearly an old recording - hard to hear.

Poor Quality

Very poor quality and hard to listen to. The only way I understood it was because I’m familiar with the story. The story and characters are excellent as all Elizabeth George books are.

quality of the audio is awful

Very hard to hear and understand - and the music makes it even worse! Had to listen to it at .75% to even understand the words...

Great story as part of a series..but

The production values on this version were terrible. And the music signaling the ellipses of the longer book was bad. Al this was very distracting.

Horrible recording!

What disappointed you about Well-Schooled in Murder?

The quality of the recording was extremely poor.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story itself was quite good - no criticism here.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator detracted significantly from this book - at least for this American listener. He spoke much too quickly, and with his British accent, I missed much of his narration.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Well-Schooled in Murder?

I would make no changes to the story itself.

Any additional comments?

The overall quality of this recording was so bad that I wish I could get my Audible credit back.

Garbled!

Narrator spoke so fast was necessary to reduce speed to 075. Again musical interludes overriding dialogue. Waste of time & money.

Well-Schooled in Murder

Good narration by Derek Jacobi and a good plot as you would expect from this skilled writer
