In the clandestine world of government agencies dedicated to safeguarding humanity from extraterrestrial threats, Nick Wolfe stands as a formidable figure—a high-ranking secret agent renowned for his unwavering commitment and impeccable track record. Employed by an unusually assertive government organization with a singular mission, Nick's role is clear: collaborate with individuals who have experienced alien abductions, employing brutal tactics and rigorous training to ensure public safety and homeland security.

However, the narrative takes a captivating turn when Madison Monroe, a recent abductee who has miraculously returned, is thrust into Nick's world. Tasked with the responsibility of safeguarding Madison and facilitating her reintegration into society, Nick finds himself embarking on a journey that will challenge the very essence of his being. Contrary to his usual stoic demeanor and strict adherence to protocol, Nick discovers himself inexplicably drawn to Madison on a personal level. This unexpected connection unsettles him, forcing him to confront the complexities of his own humanity in ways he never imagined.

As Nick grapples with this newfound connection, a central conflict emerges—one that will shape the trajectory of both his mission and personal life. On one hand, he is torn between adhering to the agency's ruthless tactics, his extensive training, and his unwavering commitment to the greater good of humanity. On the other hand, he is tempted by the prospect of deviating from protocol, driven by a desire to protect and understand Madison on a deeply personal level.

Throughout the narrative, Nick's internal struggle becomes the focal point, illuminating the tension between duty and personal connections. Themes of justice, sacrifice, and the blurred lines between collective welfare and individual needs are artfully woven into the story.

Gripping & A Lead To... another best seller novella.
Was especially surprised to hear another great author I know, given in the acknowledgements, Marina O'Brix.

We, R had me listening to every word of the book. It kept wanting more. Was impressed by the vivid scenery described by the author and the narrator was well spoken. Flowed well as it was read and enjoyed the story line. Was intense in so many places as it kept my attention throughout.
5 STARS but wished I could have given more. An intelligent and sophisticated way of enhancing one's perception of listening without having the book in front of you.

Kudos!

Gripping & A Lead To...

This short story grab me from the start, and to me it seemed that the main Character (Nick) is enthralled by the Woman that his agency is trying to capture. Narrator was good, but I was really maddened by the ending Cliffhanger.

Strange and Unusual Story

This was a well-written and entertaining novella, telling the story of a woman who was abducted by aliens (maybe). Nick Wolfe is a hard-nosed agent at a facility that deals with missing persons who were actually abductees. When Madison "Maddy" Monroe is brought into the facility, Nick is immediately drawn to her. Instead of continuing to follow the party line and see that Maddy is dissected like all the previous abductees, Nick realizes that he has to help her escape.

This was a fast-paced story, full of tension, action, and emotion. Nick starts out as an unlikable bureaucrat, but evolves into a man full of emotion. The story did end on a cliffhanger (not surprising since this is labeled as Vol. 1) and I look forward to seeing what happens in the next installment. If you enjoy stories of aliens, alien abductions or thrillers, you should like this book.

The narrator did a great job; his pacing was perfect and his performance added a lot to my enjoyment of the book. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/publisher/narrator and chose to review it.

The narration was great and the story kept me interested in what was coming next. Too short tho. Can't wait to listen to Vol 2! Thanks for allowing me to listen in exchange for an honest review. I would recommend this book
