Publisher's Summary
At age 14, I ran away, but not from home - because I never had one to begin with.
At school I participated in every sport, club, and after-school activity, so that when the other kids finally left, I could settle in for the night by my locker.
I spent my childhood dealing with gangs, drugs, violence, and my mother's mental illness, but the real enemy was always poverty.

Inspirational Story
This book was a great read and a story that needs to be heard. How he fought through the lowest depths of life and scaring adversities definitely tugged at my emotions.
Prepare yourself because this book is raw! He seems to hold nothing back. Which in my opinion makes the book better. There is good humor from multiple characters that kept me engaged and balanced. What I loved most about this book was the life wisdom provided throughout nearly every chapter.
This story will inspire others to preserver through life's toughest challenges. It has definitely inspired me.

Flooring
This book had my undivided attention from the beginning to the end. There were a lot of twists and turns and I wouldn’t say I enjoyed every single one of them but I definitely learned from it. The most interesting aspect of this story is that I also grew up in inner city LA like Yohance but our experiences were TOTALLY different. To hear what he endured on a day to day basis was absolutely flooring and to be quite frank, inspiring. Yohance’s story shows that you have no excuses to not get what you believe you deserve. There is a lot to learn from this story.
