Publisher's Summary

What are the odds? Statistics tell us that African-American males who grow up in a single-parent household are nine times more likely to drop out of high school and 20 times more likely to end up in prison than any other demographic. But what would it take for one young man not only to rise above those statistics but also become a Navy SEAL, actor, entrepreneur, writer, and successful husband and father?

In Transformed, Remi Adeleke takes you back to stories from his childhood, from living as Nigerian royalty to losing his father early in life and being financially stripped of everything by the Nigerian government. He delves into being raised by a single mother in the Bronx and doesn’t shy away from his illegal activities as a young man that threatened to derail his future. At every turn, including throughout his naval career, Adeleke found a way to overcome the odds, even when it didn’t make sense. His is an inspiring story of true personal transformation.

COME ON SOMEBODY!

I'm an avid reader, pastor, retired S.W.A.T. officer and author myself and when I'm not reading a book, I'm usually listening to an audio book in the car. This audio book was the first that I've ever listened to that I couldn't put down. I actually had to keep listening when I was not driving, even staying awake on a cross country flight to finish it. I heard about this book after seeing the author interviewed about the book by Dr. Greg Wark on a broadcast. Upon that exposure, I purchased the book and downloaded it. And I wasn't disappointed! Remi, you're transparency in this book at times scared me for you (on multiple occasions I thought "oh man... Be careful bruh!") but I've got to say, your willingness to be transparent was the hook that kept me so engaged. You did a great job with this and the audio production/presentation was among some of my favorite that I've listened to. Like watching a good movie, time literally disappeared while listening... Great read/listen for an adult audience who won't be offended by an honest rendering from a warriors perspective. Mad props on this book Remi! Great job!

The Struggle is real!!!!!

I listen to a lot of military,Special Forces memoirs, and non fiction, and I have been looking for another book to grab my attention. This book totally did exactly that, I always love it when the authors of these kind of books do their own narration. The life they breathe into their own story by reading it with the raw emotion and passion someone should have about the struggles and triumphs they have experienced can be felt through the words spoken by this author. The unlikely path from basically Nigerian royalty to the streets of the Bronx, where hustle and street smarts were the only path for most. This young man was given a chance to change his purpose in life by a caring and passionate Naval recruiter, that lead him to Buds and eventually the coveted Navy Seal Trident. The struggles he faced emotionally, physically, and spiritually give a glimpse into mind and soul of the true Warrior spirit. This audio book was a welcome addition to my collection and was just what I was looking for after listening to “You can’t hurt me” by David Goggins. It’s an amazing journey that I quickly finished hoping for more, I hope others enjoy it as much as I did!

Must be read to end

This into so much a story of the war on terror as it is s story of family, will power, dedication and the relentless determination. But most of all it is a story of redemption and honest self assessment. It would be easy to abandon the book based on mistaken expectations but the payoff is worth the wait. This book would be at home in either the military section, the self help section or the religious section of a book store. The author as the narrator lends a great deal of credence to the story and he is very good

Interesting and uplifting story

I liked this book and it even brought me to tears. The title is perfect as the author truly was transformed. I did not know it had a religious slant but it was a great story.

Inspiring, Raw, Fun, Well-Told!

Remi Adeleke did a fantastic job with this book. His transparency about who he was , what he went through to grow into the man he became, and his acknowledgment of those who helped him along the way made this story not only a fun read that fills the reader with hope, but also a kind of map of how to go from "here to there". Thank you Remi!

Decent

Overall good book about how the military provides structure and second chances. This story is that of pretty much most service men and women. Good but nothing truly groundbreaking.

Outstanding, Inspiring

Very relevant to many of the discussions in America today. From the Bronx to exceptional Navy Seal with challenges that would seem insurmountable to most. A great story of defying expectations, accomplishing the impossible and then some . Highly recommended.

Remi’s life is like a movie!

A roll a coaster of a life with unbelievable highs and lows. Extremely motivational and moving.

The book is read beautifully by Remi which really connects you to the people and builds a great understanding of the challenges he had to face.

Not Good

This books is suppose to be a real autobiography but is certainly manipulated for a younger reader. I felt there were so many clichéd stories that it took from the believability of the it.

A Door Kicker An Operator & True Inspiration !

This is not your usual book written by an elite military operator. More than just how he got into BUDs and underwent the toughest military selection there is. This is actually the story of a real life kid who's as flawed as they come. To be honest at certain points there's somethings that made him really unlikeable, BUT there is more to this Navy SEAL than I honestly expected. This is a story of the development and transformation of a boy to a man. A flawed boy and flawed man who worked hard, really hard and didn't have it easy. This is the story of a true Transformation. He's unique and after reading this twice, he's a real inspiration. This is more than a military book its a book about how our beginnings don't have to define our endings. Its a story of grit, determination and how we never know how people we meet can change our lives if we open our hearts and minds. I know for a fact Remi poured his heart and soul into this book his passion and honesty ooze from it and his narration. The story itself is about the development of his heart and soul and not just about how he ran 806 miles did 126hrs of PT amongst many other amazing physical things. He narrates it himself and to hear him Hooya and make the noise of the bell ringing gives this book a genuine authenticity. Being a SEAL gives us some reference of his training, but the book without the seal training would still be inspiring. I liked it and Im sure you will too.

Utterly brilliant!!

I am doing a huge amount of training and the right audio book is a crucial part of the process. This book by Remi Adeleke is utterly brilliant. This would be my favourite audio book of all time and I have listened to so many. The story itself is incredible but he brings such passion and energy to the narration. You won’t be disappointed.

A solid 4*+

Remi lived an incredible life and displayed some incredible human resilience and strength. A transformation of gripping highs and lows and with a story line you could near on not even make up.

I feel his life story was interesting but the book was not as deep or resounding as that of say David Goggins'. Well worth a listen though!
