Most Suspensful So Far

Book 3 of the 'Days of Want' series is the most action-packed, suspenseful yet. There's a lot going on in this post-EMP universe, and it's only the second week!

We continue to see how Maddie's group is handling things at the cabin. Their small group is grappling with defending the property and preparing for winter. They also get involved with some of the political aspects of the nearby town and question if it's wise to do so. Beth, Maddie's mother, is still working her way back to her children. She is briefly way-laid, but manages to get back on the road quickly. The third POV character, Ames, has woefully little in this book. He appears in only one scene.

It's still early days in the apocalypse and the author shows how people are struggling to adapt to the new reality. And how some are taking full advantage of the changes, but not in positive ways. There are dangers lurking in the group's future that will rear their heads in the next book, I fear.

This series is still holding my attention. There are many likable characters. Most of the plot is realistic to how people would react to the realization that electricity is not coming back any time soon.

I'm going to mention a tiny problem I have with the endings of the three books I've listened to so far. The author does have natural stopping places in each book, but continues on for about half a scene, making it feel incomplete. I'm not sure if this is the author's attempt to set up the next book or not, but it is somewhat jarring for me. This is a small gripe and doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the books overall.

Kevin Pierce's narration is great, as always. His reading style immerses the listener into the story.

I received a free review copy of this audiobook, at my request, and have written the above voluntary opinion of it.

Highly recommended.

Yikes. Couldn’t finish it...

It started out bad, and only went downhill from there… even Kevin couldn’t polish this turd. This series has turned into a cross between ‘Twilight’ and a bad Lifetime holiday chick flick. Best of luck to the author - if you stay on this path you’ll end up as lost as the plot of this book. Teenage girls don’t read SHTF....🤣

Love this series

I Love this series and pretty much anything narrated by Kevin Pierce. The way that each book builds on each other and how the author brings the characters together... great books

So tiresome!

Even though the story was exciting, the constant and never-ending adversity faced by the characters became so tiresome I just had to stop. I’m sure that even in the apocalypse people won’t have to deal with the situations these poor people find themselves in.

Really drew me in!!!

I was very happy to see that book 3 came out! As with the other two. I really didn’t care for the performance. But, the story and characters were enough to hold me on and hope for book 4!!!

Great book series

Started Book 1, and haven't been able to stop listening to see what came next. Great character development, realistic dynamics and relationships between the 'uncles' and siblings. I've enjoyed thre narration, but have to point out that Arkansas City, Kansas, is NOT pronounced like the state of Arkansas (ahr'-kan-saw), but rather like (Our)Kan'-sas. Looking forward to Book 4!

Fast paced, entertaining read

I really enjoyed this book, fast paced, and an emotional rollercoaster, I especially liked the underlying conspiracy of the story. Great narration from Kevin Pierce. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I had not read the first two in the series before

I had not read the first two in the series before I jumped into this one. It did feel like I needed to read them first in order to have a better understanding of what was going on. That said I still could follow everything.

There were multiple stories happening at the same time, it switched from one character to another and then another. The Author was building a bigger story with all of them involved. Which did make this story feel more like a filler for the main event, the Author building a stage.
