Very Good insights from a personal perspective

Paul Brodie takes a different tack from most other travel books. I appreciate his input as I have already read Travel Planet's book on Maui. His is unabashedly not intended to compete directly with that kind of book. Paul's insights and experience allow the reader to gain an insider's expertise that one could not obtain by reading Fodors or Travel Planet.

Overall I recommend the read, particularly for $4.87. Do not use a "credit" to buy this read. That would just be foolish.

Before listening to the book, please understand three things:

1) Paul vacations with his mom. I applaud their obvious close relationship. Paul references his mother's experience at every instance along with his own. Depending on who you are this could be extremely valuable, tiresome or something in between.

2) Paul uses the phrase "I highly recommend" so often that it becomes hilarious. On the plus side, there is a reason for his every use. Pay attention in spite of your laughter.

3) The English language contains a large number of words ending in "ing". Perhaps 500 or more. Paul uses these words prolifically in his book (as we all do). However, in his narration, he pronounces each and every one with a silent "g". Whereas I realize there are hundreds of dialects and speech patterns in America, the constant "in' " pronunciation of "ing" becomes like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. With any luck, that bothers no one but me.

Enjoy the good read and more importantly enjoy the amazing and beautiful island of Maui!

Not much for substance

Save your credit. If you do purchase...a fun game is to count how many time the phrase “I highly recommend” is used throughout.
