Investigate or have sex

If you don't pay attention to the publisher at the start, you will soon realize that this is a Harlequin novel. When the FBI agents aren't investigating the crimes and trying to get the bad guy, they're either having sex or fantasizing about it. We get it, they are adults but Lara Gant seems to be a little too focused on getting physical with the bad guy or her new partner. If you got rid of the gratuitous love making, this 8 book series could be condensed to 4.

Once you get past the late nite Cinemax plots, it is a good crime series. Of course there is a mole, a bad guy and a twin, plus a daughter that gets used as bait. It is longer than needed (even without the explicit relationship descriptions), but getting through it is a rewarding way to spend some free time.

Great story

Lots of twists and turns. My kind of read. I will look for more in the series and from this author.

good story but terrible main character

the girl boss who suffer more than any guy and is stronger than any body, let's her feelings or hormones miss lead her every step of the way..... actually had me rooting for the bad guy....

Good story, mediocre character

Lara Grant would never make it as an FBI special agent. Emotional, yes. Sex crazed, yes. Snap judgements without analysis, yes. Overreacted, yes. The narrator did a great job, just wish the primary character would have been more believable.

Disappointing Heroine!

The heroine got beat at EVERY turn! It was all tough talk with no backup. Mis-step after mis-step. She did not miss in the hormone department. Thankfully she had a great team supporting her.

It was good but not great

Let me start with Theresa Plummer was awesome! I agree with the reviewers that said it was slow to start. I didn't really get into the story until the second book. I don't want to go too much into detail because I don't want to spoil it for those thinking about listening. There was one character introduced and as soon as the character was I knew right away where that story line was going so there was no real suspense in that part. I also found myself rolling my eyes at some of the character descriptions to me they were cheesy and I think they were supposed to be sexy or intriguing. I don't know if the different writers had something to do with the flow or lack of in some spots of the story. For the most part, though, it was decent. I actually got it to listen to in the car on my long drive to and from work but found myself listening in the house as well. Bottom line I think it's worth a listen. 😊

A captivating storyline

The suspense and action made this book binge worthy for me and I appreciated a satisfactory ending. The narration is also very good.

Story lost focus

Started okay, but by the end it was a poorly written soap opera. Not great dialogue and not realistic, or two many unrealistic, turns.

The flow of story.was good

Too much sex and focus on sexual appearance which didn’t really add to the story—- just too much sexual dialogue.
