What Whiner

I like this story but DI Walker is such a baby. She truly needs to put her big girl bloomers on and get on with her job. She would rather whine to herself about how unfair things aare and the DSI is out to get her. I hope eventually she woman's up

Robotham rip off

So I read The Night Ferry and The Secrets She Keeps by Michael Robotham and this honestly seems like a combination of those two books, The Night Ferry is about a baby trafficking ring investigated by a hotheaded but brilliant female detective and The Secret She Keeps is about a couple, the husband a locally public figure, who have their baby stolen from the maternity ward by a mentally unstable woman who dresses up like a nurse and steals a baby after losing her own, the faked pregnancy, the entire story line is the same. The Secret She Keeps was also made into a tv series and the book came out in 2016, or 2017. I'm a fiction writer myself and I just think it's highly unlikely the similarities were a coincidence.

Fine

It’s an okay story and the writing is okay too. Not bad, but also not memorable. I liked the narrator, but had a bit of a cringe moment when she sang ‘baby mine’ and obviously didn’t know the song. Either Google it next time or don’t sing a song if you don’t know the tune, lol.

The Night Shift

I really enjoyed this novella and am looking so forward to listening to this series. The characters and the solving of the case was very good, made you want it to last longer. The narration was perfect.

Strong female lead for British crime series

Enjoyed the start to this series. Strong and stubborn Whitney has a big heart that drives her policework. I had to look up all the British police abbreviations as I didn't know what DS and DCI were, but I love learned stuff like that. Great beginning.

Now we know how Whitney got it

Very good story to serve as a prequel to the series involving Whitney and George. Looking forward to reading/hearing more about George’s background. We seem to have more information about George, her family and her romantic relationships.

Yes, please!

I listened to book one in the series and when I saw this prequel, I knew I wanted to listen before going on in the series. It was a terrific choice for a terrific listen. It's free (as of this writing) and just shy of two hours. There is no downside with trying this listen to set the stage for the other books in the series.

short and simplistic teaser book

meant to be a teaser for the following books, but it was so short and simplistic that there was no real mystery, suspense, or draw to get the next book.

Great writer.

The story is good. Sally Rigby is an outstanding writer. Novellas are often difficult to get to know the characters but this short story gives you an nice insight to the protagonist and I look forward to reading more of this series. The narrator was excellent.

I now need to listen to the whole series!

So glad I discovered this author and this series of books through Audible Plus. This short story is a great introduction to the characters of the series. Despite it's short length it was well plotted and had believable and interesting characters and a story that was engaging and gripping. If this is a taste of what's to come in the series then I'm all up for it! Great performance by the narrator too.

great start to a new series

I wouldn't have used a credit because of the length of the story. However as it was part of the plus catalogue I was happy to give it a try.
I am glad I did, I have purchased a lot of Sally Rigby books, they are well written and Claire Corbett is an excellent narrator. I recommend it.

Prequel for a series

I didn’t realise this was a short story but it was free so didn’t waste a credit. I don’t understand the point of short stories nor abridged books actually, but that’s just me. If you have a couple of hours to fill it might be for you.

Very good story

The narrator was excellent (maybe not the mens voices) but it didn’t distract.
Some books last 14 hours and I find I can’t remember most of the plot. So I found this novella refreshing and would definitely listen to Sally Rigby again.

We have heard this boring theme before!

Typical wishy-washy clap-trap about a poor female detective who is put upon by higher ranking male colleagues.
Typical misogynistic, poorly educated, male high ranking police officers.

I loved Sally’s writing and did not want it to end. Whitney is an awesome character with a great mind of her own and excellent intuition. Looking forward to hear more stories.
