Publisher's Summary
Drew Duncan swore he’d never go back to Ember Falls again. After he was wrongfully charged with his high school girlfriend’s murder, he waited for a trial that never came. When he was released from jail a year later, he left everything behind. But when his sister is murdered, Drew is forced to return to the hometown where he and his sisters were brutalized by their alcoholic father.
Once back, not even his training as a Marine and point man for McAlister Security prepares Drew for what he must face - a surviving sister who refuses to forgive him for abandoning her, a nephew who trembles when he enters the room, and an entire town that thinks he got away with murder. To protect his nephew, Drew will face his most terrifying fear. Going home.

Loved this!
Fast-paced story with intriguing twists and turns, mystery, action, and a nice dose of romance. Great characters and I loved the family dynamics shown. A story of loss, coping, and overcoming past abuse. Fantastic narrator, she really brought the story to life. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this series goes. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Loved!
This tragic story gripped me from the very beginning and didn't let go, even with the ending since there's obviously a book 2! Narration is spot on! I highly recommend this book.

Great romantic suspense!
This is a new-to-me author and I am glad that I gave this book a chance. This is a romantic suspense based in small town, NY. The H was forced to leave many years ago under a cloud of suspicion of murder and hadn’t returned until now. He was responding to an email from his sister begging for help to keep her son safe. Unfortunately, he arrives too late for his sister...she has been murdered. Can he find the killer and keep his nephew and surviving sister safe? The storyline had substance...wasn’t all steamy scenes. Slight spoiler, implied sexual abuse, details of physical abuse and bullying, but all tastefully handled. We get an HFN and I’m looking forward to the next book to find out what happens next. I voluntarily accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Very poor narration
Would you try another book from Vincent Morrone and/or Violet Anderson?
The story itself might've been good, but I didn't get to find it out because of two reasons. One, the pacing is very slow. I just couldn't get interested in it. There were good bits here n there, but after each such section, there were lots of fillers that didn't move the story along. Two, the narration made listening to it a chore. So, I had to quit after some time.
How could the performance have been better?
The narration was the weakest part of this audiobook. It was monotonous and lacked emotions. Sad to say, but it was liking listening to a text-to-speech engine. Male character voices were done the worst. Moreover, sounds like Violet breathed very close to the mic and hence large part of the narration has very weird sound quality too.

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

I found this to be a good story although the narration could have used a little more feeling in it.

this book was great
This book was amazing!!!!! A bother gone a sister lost and a family trying to rebuild and move on. I loved Drew and poor little Cole. The general is my favorite character he is a straight shooter with way too much insight to people's demons. The only problem with this book was the recording quality. It started out fine and then started to sound cheap. This book is well worth the credit either way. I received this book for free for an honest review.

couldn't enjoy the book
as much as I love Audible and I do sometimes the narrator can destroy the enjoyment from the story I seriously couldn't enjoy the story because I felt like the voice of the narrator was like a computer and not human it was lacking of feelings it was very mechanic and I didn't enjoy it at all unfortunately the book itself may be interesting I don't really know because it was very difficult for me to concentrate in the story when the narrator bothered me so very much I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Hate narrative, monotonous and boring
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was okay at some parts
How could the performance have been better?
Give it more energy, it seemed like narrative didn't care much about reading
