Publisher's Summary

Dr. Christiane Northrup's number-one New York Times best seller The Wisdom of Menopause has inspired more than a million women with a dramatically new vision of midlife - and will continue to do so for generations to come. As Dr. Northrup has championed, the "change" is not simply a collection of physical symptoms to be "fixed", but a mind-body revolution that brings the greatest opportunity for growth since adolescence. The choices a woman makes now - from the quality of her relationships to the quality of her diet - have the power to secure vibrant health and well-being for the rest of her life.

Now completely revised, this groundbreaking classic draws on the current research and medical advances in women's health, and includes: a new section on sex after 50 - and how, if need be, you can rejuvenate your sex life; updated mammogram guidelines - and how thermography improves breast health; the latest on the glycemic index, optimal blood sugar levels, and ways to prevent diabetes; dietary guidelines revealing that hidden sugar - not dietary fat - is the main culprit in heart disease, cancer, and obesity; all you need to know about perimenopause and why it's critical to your well-being; a vital program for ensuring pelvic health during and after menopause; and strategies to combat osteoporosis and strengthen bones for life. With this trusted resource, Dr. Christiane Northrup shows that women can make menopause a time of personal empowerment - emerging wiser, healthier, and stronger in both mind and body than ever before.

Outstanding!!

I love this book! it is the longest book I've ever listened to, but it was so worth it. This book is filled with valuable and detailed information about perimenopause and menopause. I feel validated and like I'm not alone. Dr Northrup has a heart for women. I will be getting a print copy to have as a reference guide, although a very thorough PDF is provided. I am not a fan of Big Pharma, so all of the wonderful information about holistic and all natural ways to support my health was exciting to hear. I will be listening to parts of the book again. Thank you, Dr Northrup!

Often Not Credible

Lots of contradictions and non-factual "medical" advice. Looks as though the author has resurrected a decades old book; poor editing allowed for dated references to things such as "The Secret," "telephone books" and Tina Turner as though she were still middle aged. Perhaps this was the author's effort to continue to capitalize on her name before she lost her medical license. I'm not sure how many of the 33 hours of this audio book stayed on track with the actual topic of menopause but there was an awful lot of extra fluff about things such as the author's opinion about cosmetic surgery as a way to lift the woman's mood, and the author's opinion about the need to ditch marriages...as a way to lift the woman's mood, etc. It seems the very act of getting out of a bad marriage can cause serious medical conditions to magically disappear! There were cherry picked opinions about which FDA approved medications woman should not trust due to corruption from the pharmaceutical industry while the author gives advice on other pharmaceuticals that are somehow not compromised by the same industry. It was also odd that the narrator changed. Perhaps when the American author herself grew tired she simply paid someone else with a British accent to finish things up.
