Publisher's Summary

After discovering the Inquisitor’s plot within the Academy, Tolan is offered a chance to go with his father and learn from the Draasin Lord. Doing so not only means turning against the Academy and everything he has come to know, but means the Inquisitors will succeed in their plan.

When the Grand Master comes to him asking a dangerous favor, Tolan must make a choice that might bring him into direct contact with the Draasin Lord.

Everything he’s been taught about the elementals and the Draasin Lord is wrong.

If he can stop Aela and the Inquisitors, he might be able to save the Academy, but the Draasin Lord has something else in mind for him.

IMO MC HAS NOT SHOWN ANY GROWTH

I got through first three, but a common issue I had was there were paragraphs among paragraphs that just say same thing, almost like just fillers and its very frustrating , I did not finish this one. was too fed up with it. I'm, probably not the target audience so take this with grain of salt.

Repetition and going nowhere

I really want to like this series, but I cannot get through a fourth book of repeating the exact same things as the last three books… Tolen’s inner struggle about elementals and whether or not to release or support them. Story is not bad, it just doesn’t go anywhere for me.

Repetitive comments...

overall, a good story; however, the author tends to repeat thing multiple times, which become extremely annoying...

Frustrating but entertaining

These books are nice, but they seem to crawl at a snail's pace & don't mind to double back on themselves.

Tolen Ethar is an interesting character & I wish he'd commit to one thing or another. The author likes to write things such as, "This was a new way to draw power, its more than he's ever experienced, he could barely control it, but it wasn't enough." (That was paraphrased).

It's also confusing to understand that there's elements, element bonds, and elementals. I'm moving on to the next book in the series & that might be indication enough that I enjoy the series, but it could be so much better.

An absolutely amazing series

I absolutely fell in love with this series. I didn't even expect to as I got it on a whim and figured I'd give it a shot. I'm huge into fantasy and love how DK Holmberg shaped (heh heh pun intended) this world the series takes place in as well as the stories of each of the characters. I'm thoroughly excited to see what the next books bring!

Disappointed

Mostly filler with not much revealed. I hope the next books aren’t as bad or else I’ll drop the series.

Great book for drinking game. take a shot for everyone the word shape or shaper is used. you won't get past the first few chapters. it really wears on you after a while.

The MC !!!

Tolan just seems too dumb for the MC he just seems to get dumber and dumber as the books go on, I keep finding myself wanting to skip a chapter to see if he makes the obvious choice.
