Can a robot survive in the wilderness?

When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is all alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is—but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a violent storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island's unwelcoming animal inhabitants.

As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home—until, one day, the robot's mysterious past comes back to haunt her.

Great for the whole family!

The story and the narrator kept all of us (ages 4, 8, 10, and adult) totally enthralled. So many wonderful themes of adaptation, community and connection, and sacrifice told in an engaging way. Can't wait to listen to the sequel!

My grandson loved this book!

My grandson, 5 years old, loved this book. He followed the story intently, with a dreamy look in his eyes as Ros’s adventures unfolded. The story was a perfect length, and we listened when traveling to and from school, and when I had chores and He couldn’t participate in. It was exactly what I was looking for when I browsed the Children’s books.

Absolutely amasing

This story was my favorite book, and getting to listen to it with the additional sounds and music made it ten times better. Getting to experience the full emotion of the setting and actions gave a full new perspective, which I quite enjoyed.

Great Introductory Story for Younger Readers

I read this story with my three and half year old son. It was a story that was entertaining and he loved it very much. This story was full of a lot of great details and a perfect introduction for him to audiobook. He loved that the robot was lovable and caring. He is excited for the next installment.

A fun story for kids, with lessons

This was a fun, adventurous, and imaginative story that Peter Brown has written. There are lessons of kindness and getting along, lessons on how not to judge people (animals) who are different than you, and how to work together in emergencies.
It tells a tale of a shipwreck of a boat carrying human-shaped robots, into an island where only animals live. Only one survives - Roz - and how she learns to adapt, to converse, and finally how to care for them, a egg and hatchling gosling who sees the robot as his Mama.
It's a tender story with some suspenseful and even sad elements, but it ends with a message of hope.
Kate Stwater does an excellent job of narrating the robot and various animals. T thoroughly enjoyed the listen.
