I loved the stories, they kept my attention. They were exciting and I enjoyed listening to them while I was exercising on my stationary recumbent bike.

GET IT! I can not believe all of my favorite stories are in the same package, so complete! I could not be more happy with Jonathan Keeble, one of the best narrorators, and it was a search of his audible books that I found this collection. He reads the majority of the works, and it is the ultimate honor to give these classic stories such a talented voice to tell the tale for the next generation.

Massive, Incredible, Maybe Even Definitive

Horror fans, this is one of the best I've seen on Audible, and I've got a huge library. I saw titles related to this one on Chirp, then checked Audible and got this and two of its sources, Complete Poe (the version with poems, letters, criticisms, etc.) and the Poe/James/Lovecraft collection, which contains a wider variety of classics by those three authors. If you like gothic classics, and the sample sounds good to you, let this ginormous collection of great occult tales turbo-charge your darkling library. Guaranteed to occupy the shadowy figures in your home's remotest Nocturama. What music the children of the night make!

Tremendous variety of fiction

This is a great collection of classic horror stories. Fiction by multiple authors is brought together in one place. The narrators read with great emotion, which adds to the listening experience.

Absolutely masterful, they don’t make em like they used to

They truly don’t. The word exquisite comes to mind.

Such an excess of words that somehow, extraordinarily, never comes across as verbose. Quite the opposite, nothing short of a total mastery of the English language that totally consumes the imagination. Something I’ve always enjoyed about “ye old” English, but this is the greatest display I’ve had the pleasure of reading/hearing.

Johnathan Keeble must be a Shakespearean actor, he is in a completely other league. His female counterpart has comparable skill.

All round the best anthology collection of short stories n novellas I’ve ever bought. Get amongst it.

The Best Horror Collection on Audible!

This collection has the most famous horror stories of the modern era - from Dracula to Frankenstein, some MR James, Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe stories, and much more. They are all, without a fault, performed expertly by some of the best readers on Audible. Easy to navigate and expertly put together, this is a must-have collection for any horror fan or anyone who wants to broaden their listening to include some of the masters of the genre.

Nice collection

I liked this collection and the order it was set up in. Narrators are all good, but it's a long time with the same people, so it may be tiring for some. Taking a break for something else between the different stories may be helpful, but I listened to it all in a week or so and enjoyed it. A handful of word pronunciations bothered me, but it could very well be normal in different places.

Wow…just wow.

It goes without saying but this title is long…extremely long, and if you’re like me and listen on the normal speed, it’ll take a few weeks to get through, but it’s well worth it. This is all classical literature however…so you won’t find Stephen King in here…but listening to Dracula, Frankenstein, and many other classical novels read in such an intense way really brought the stories to life so the book didn’t FEEL like 90 hours to me. I wasn’t fond of the HP Lovecraft stories but I listened all the same…and found them interesting enough, mostly due to the wonderful narrator Jonathan Keeble. He reads most of the classical novels comprised within this book.
I’d say this is worth the credit for The Picture of Dorian Gray alone.
