Hey, I'm Jamie, a 29-year-old trans guy from the UK. I've been transitioning for 12 years now after realising I was trans (by accident!) at sixteen years old. I knew I was a boy since the age of four, but realised whilst growing up that I was different. It was only in my teens that I found the words to express who I was and what I needed to do. Since then, I've been on testosterone for more than a decade - I know, I can't believe it either - I've also had top and bottom surgery and legally changed my sex, so I know a few things about the transitioning process and being trans!

I want to welcome you to The T in LGBT where you can explore and learn about so many topics surrounding gender identity: realising you're trans, starting hormones, considering surgery, and everything in between. Whether you're questioning your own identity and are looking for advice on certain stages of transition, or whether you're wanting to learn about the trans experience to support someone or understand allyship, I hope this book can be your one-stop guide to everything trans related.

And don't just take my word for it either - this book is packed full of advice, tips, and the personal stories of a range of trans voices, because no one journey is the same.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Great straightforward resource

I loved the book and only wish I had been able to read it earlier in my transition process for a better idea of what was coming and maybe so my partner would have had a better idea as well.

Very informative

I’ve been subscribed to Jamie’s channel for a couple of years as an ally, and quite enjoyed this book. His and Shaaba’s calm and intelligent vibe makes it even better. I really do hope it will serve its purpose and help those who need it.

Gentle introduction

I'm familiar with the author through his work on YouTube. I was glad to see that an audiobook version of his first book was available. I found it a gentle overview and would recommend it as a friendly introduction to trans issues. As a member of this community, there was nothing here that was new to me, but I'm happy to support it as another accessible and positive addition to resources for allies and new or questioning LGBTQ folks. I hope Jamie continues to provide education and advocacy for this community and look forward to his future works.

As a freshly out trans woman its wonderful!

Jamie is so easy to listen to, and his story is incredibly touching. It makes me feel more confident in my feelings and decisions as a trans woman. This is also a book that I can easily share with loved ones to help them understand how I'm feeling better. It also gives me more tools to express my own feelings. Thank you, Jamie and Shaava, for being extremely vulnerable and open to making steps for people like myself easier.

Great starting point for trans and/or ally jouney

Great starting point for anyone with questions about the t in lgbt. Wonderfully read, positive but not sugar-coated messaging and well referenced information, Great for allies as well as anybody on a journey of figuring themselves out.

I love Jamie and Shaba!!

I was already a fan of both Jamie and Shaba’s YouTube channels, so listening to them both through out the book was wonderful. I really respect Jamie’s efforts to make knowledge freely available to all, and backed by RESEARCH. 😊 My oldest child is nonbinary, so I especially appreciated the inclusion of the section about nonbinary people, and the general effort to keep all people included in this book.

Not just info

Even for me as the spouse of an enby, there’s so much useful information. But beyond that, the book is funny, touching, relatable, hopeful, and even joyful. I feel like a have a few more friends helping me help my love on their journey. Thank you Jamie and Shaaba.

The best book on Trans-life out there.

The author is intelligent, funny, and informative. Totally recommend this book both for allies and people who identify as transgendered. Finally a comprehensive book especially for people living in the United Kingdom.

Authentic Trans Experience

Jamie mentions that when he was transitioning, there weren’t a lot of trans men making content after the first few steps in transitioning. This is something I’ve noticed as well. This is a void that he fills both on his YouTube channel and throughout this book. I will be forever grateful for his vulnerability.
