James marsters is better

James marsters is better for sure, much more noise in the background and harry sound’s wrong

Not too bad.

Still the same great story and the radio serial take is kind of cool… but James Marsters will ALWAYS be the voice of Harry Dresden to me.

Dresden in a different key

James Marsters will ALWAYS be the voice of Dresden for me. That said, this production did an outstanding job of capturing the old school noir feel of Dresden's world. All of the voice actors have been well cast, and the music and sound effects really make the story pop! I look forward to hearing the other books.

A good production, though James Marsters is a touch act to follow

Honestly, if all they did was have James Marsters come to reprise his role as the voice of Harry Dresden, this would be a 5 star review across the board. The book itself is great, but James has always been the voice of Harr ly, to me, and he has only gotten better as time goes on. If Graphic Audio could convince him to come voice Harry for them, this would basically be the best Audiobook version of any series ever.

Great follow-up to the audio books

I'm a fan of the audio books with James Marsters, and I enjoy full-cast audio adaptations, when done right. I've been disappointed in the over acting in some previous GA adaptations, but for the most part they've avoided that in this one. The central characters are well portrayed, and although some of the secondary female characters can go a bit far in the femme fatale direction, there's no denying there are strong sexual overtones in the original novels, so that can be overlooked.

Harry is just as much of a likeable wise ass as always, and the adaptation is very clever at keeping his narration intact. When there's an action scene and he has to do some explaining in the midst of it, the background audio is either faded under his thoughts, or there's sometimes a clever sound effect that subtly suggests the action is going into show motion while we are in Harry's head. In all, the writing and sound editing are excellent and well thought-out. I'll be getting the rest of the series if and when it comes out!

Perfect casting!

I love the Harry Dresden series. I've consumed it in in physical, digital, and audio many times over. This dramatized adaptation is absolutely stellar. From the musical score to the voice acting, it's just perfect. The way it brings the world to life is spectacular. I'm really excited to see what graphic audio does with the rest of the series. I'll be snatching these up as soon as they're available.

a delight for true fans and new listeners

Fantastic. I'd love to have the whole series in this high definition audio format. The music and character voices and sound effects all added to the narrative, never distracting. A real theater of the mind experience.

Full audio production

I am a Jim Butcher fan. This isn’t even one of his best books but the Full Audio Production by graphic audio takes this to a whole new level. I’ve read this book at least 10 times, I’ve listened to this book at least 5 or 6 times; this is the most enjoyable version of it out there. Highly recommend.

So good very high quality

I have no clue why folks remember the first book read by James Marsters with fondness, he's an incredible narrator but storm front done by him sounds like it was recorded in a high school broom closet the quality is so poor it turned me off to listening to this series entirely. Iv read each book and own almost all of them and this production was incredible.

adaptation?!

pretty awesome. Normally I don't care for adaptations. I like the authors clear unadulterated words woth no edits. this version however really scratched an itch with the sound design and spellcasting effects. I especially like Harry's entrance to Gentleman Johnny Marco's and the ensuing sounds. it w a s fantastic and I really hope they pit a rush order on doing the rest of these books. Ill be first in line to buy them. while you're at it, please do the Monster Hunter international series by Larry Correia.
