Publisher's summary

The Stock Market Crash of 1929 is an informative introduction to one of the most turbulent events in our history. On October 29, 1929, more than 16 million stock shares were sold at the New York Stock Exchange, and by the end of November, investors had lost more than $100 billion in assets. With the crash, the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties came to a close, and a dark era of financial dispair dawned in the United States.

The Stock Market Crash of 1929: The End of Prosperity is a revealing look at the events that helped usher in one of the grimmest periods in American history. The book is published by Chelsea House Publishers, a leading publisher of educational material.

A great work on the Depression

This well done piece covers not just what led to the Stock Market Crash, how that crash occurred and finally the many ways the Roosevelt administration tackled the many wrecked portions of America as it broke down the Depression.

Short & Concise Intro to Crash & Great Depression

A good, educational introduction to what preceded the '29 crash and what followed, but a little bit on the dry side. Most of the book is actually about the Great Depression. I was a bit surprised how little it actually has in it about the Crash itself or the workings of the stock market at that time.

its an ok summary of the new deal and depression

Nothing new here. It is just a very basic overview, mostly unbiased. Kind of boring

Mistitled & Misleading! Beware: NOT about Wall St.

Whew, where do I begin? I downloaded this thinking I'd get a first hand view of what it was like on wall street in 1929. Boy was I ripped off. This book is mainly about The Great Depression and NOT about the Stock Crash!? Oh, it glosses over the crash for a few pages here and there but that's it. Heck, if I wanted to read about the Great Depression there are better books out there. Skip this one!
