Publisher's Summary
A sinner’s only hope is true love in this passionate new novel in J. R. Ward’s number-one New York Times best-selling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
Syn has kept his side hustle as a mercenary a secret from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. When he takes another hit job, he not only crosses the path of the vampire race’s new enemy, but also that of a half-breed in danger of dying during her transition. Jo Early has no idea what her true nature is, and when a mysterious man appears out of the darkness, she is torn between their erotic connection and the sense that something is very wrong.
Fate anointed Butch O’Neal as the Dhestroyer, the fulfiller of the prophecy that foresees the end of the Omega. As the war with the Lessening Society comes to a head, Butch gets an unexpected ally in Syn. But can he trust the male - or is the warrior with the bad past a deadly complication?
With time running out, Jo gets swept up in the fighting and must join with Syn and the Brotherhood against ultimate evil. In the end, will love true prevail...or was the prophecy wrong all along?

18th installment in this series and still amazing
The relationship followed somewhat of an expected route but that's not to say it wasn't satisfying. The character development felt on point and thus even though you could see where the relationship was headed and where the bumps were going to occur, It felt right for it to happen that way. There was only one spot that felt forced just a bit but it was almost necessary to keep the relationship on track without adding undue meandering to the characters' arcs. Additionally, not to give away spoilers but, it was nice to see a new conflict get thrown into the mix. The twist caught me off guard. You have to love it when the author can throw a curveball you simply don't see coming until it smacks you in the face. Forcing you to pause the story and stop listening while your brain takes a moment to rework the story's potential outcomes because everything you thought you knew was going to happen is now totally invalid. Last and definitely not least, I don't know that I could listen to this series performed by anyone else. Jim's voice is synonymous with this series for me and I wouldn't have it any other way. The characters are unique without being overly portrayed and everyone is still easy to understand. Thank you, J.R. Ward and Jim Frangione for another great addition to the series. I eagerly awaiting the next.

Wow so much happened in this book but it all happens in the very end. Getting to that stuff seemed to take forever!!! The beginning felt a little slow for me which is very unusual with this series. I was glad to see what direction this series will be going and get some answers we have been waiting for. The "surprise" in this book was not a surprise foe me at all, I knew from the first encounter what was going to happen. This book was good but I'm more excited about the direction the series is going so the next book will be awesome, I just know it!

Love the Black Dagger Brotherhood
I absolutely love this series. From book one it’s impossible not to fall in love with these leather clad warriors and their personalities, flaws and all. JR Ward builds an amazing world in Caldwell. In my mind it’s a vacation spot. Who could have ever thought to cry over loss of a vampire or to experience the joy in finally finding the love of your immortal life. The only problem I have is being on pins and needles, waiting for the next book to hit the shelf. Amazing!

The Sinner
This book overall was good, I am glad the Destroyer prophecy finally comes into play. It feels like we have been waiting forever for it. Normally I can’t get enough of the BDB book and I finish it the day of release but this book dragged for me. I loved the story but it took a long time to get to the point. I missed some of our favorite characters from the series, we had so much blank space I wished we could have had a scene or two with them so it didn't feel so empty. I loved the Jo and Syn relationship but again so much space was taken up before we get to the meat of it all. That ending though I swear to god, instant tears and because of the ending I am bumping up my rating to a 4. Again no one could be the brothers but Jim, he is the Brothers in my book.

Another hit for J.r.Ward
OMG!!! There are not enough words to say how much I loved this one. Finally the end of the war, but now Devina. Wow!!! I can’t wait to see what comes next. Syn... I loved him and Jo. He was so twisted up inside. She just wanted to know who she was, and he gave her that. I was holding my breath at the end. I was worried about all of them. The males in Jo’s life-giving him the clear to love and take care of her... 💙☺️ V!!! I love V! So, getting more of him and Butch! 💙💙💙💙💙 I won’t lie I was worried up until the end. I was white-knuckling my Kindle wondering about the end. Lassiter and The Curt Schilling!!! I loved that scene. Do I think that V will still get him back? YEP! I can’t wait. Plus Lassiter and Devina... I can’t wait to see what comes of that. Wrath’s visit with the Scribe Virgin... I cried. That scene was amazing. I am so ready for the next book. I hope the Black Dagger Brotherhood books never end. My all-time fave in the Paranormal Romance.

Main Female character..
I like all the new characters for the brotherhood, but sometimes the characters for their lifemate are not good enough for them, heh, For example...the main female character does not click with the sinner, maybe its her career as a reporter, maybe I'm prejudiced against that..maybe..but, in my opinion, the character should have more steel in her. I'm not sure why she's going around with a gun for protection and think she can protect herself and yet she's squeemish about what guns do, I don't know how to explain it but I would expect a female character as strong as xhez, and that someone to backup the sinner whenever or however she can to help with this war against the lesser. Anyway, I always try to fast forward some of the bedroom play, cause I'm not really interested in the female character so whatev,.. I just want to get back to the rest of the story. I might have to return this book..I'm already halfway past the second part of the book and for however it ends, I will think about if this book is worth re-listening to again....''''''Ok I finished the book. It had an ok ending..BUT the only characters I liked was the BOB,BBB aaaannnd,..LASSITER! I may listen to this again if only because of the male characters, don't get me wrong I also liked the newest enemy that's coming their way! I guess I will keep this book for these main reasons, I still don't like the main female character. I would probably skip the bedroom scenes and get on with the rest of the story which is more interesting anyway. That's my opinion. Don't Hate!! Have a Beautiful Day!!

Romance, End of the War and a new enemy
Listened to audio narrated well by Jim Frangione. He's narrated all of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books and he never disappoints. There were some audio inconsistencies but they were minor. This latest installment of the Brotherhood is about the end of the war with the Lessors, a tiny peek at the new enemy and Syn and Jo's romance. Jo is a newspaper reporter who's been a thorn in the Brotherhood's side every since she started a paranormal on-line blog. She's been sick and has no idea that she's a pre-trans as she was adopted after her mother was killed. I liked how she took care of herself and stood up for herself even when scared. Syn has a need to kill and is a killer for hire on the sly to manage his desires. His father was an abusive bastard and Syn's story takes us from 'he's twisted' to OMG I'm so glad he survived and I'm glad Syn sees who he really is underneath the hard edges. Butch knows the end of the war is near and starts behaving rashly to protect his fellow brothers. He unknowingly attracts Devina's attention but his love for Marissa prevents her from getting her claws into him. AAAAANNNDDDD the big show down with the Omega happens, you're not going to believe how that all works out. I liked how Ward wraps up this chapter in the Brotherhood's lives and I'm curious what direction Devina will take future books as she seemed a little off her game from what I read in the ""Fallen Angels' series. Overall a good read with the romance and Brotherhood arcs well blended. I also loved the cameo moments with Wrath and Beth and the Omega and the Scribe Virgin. wyldheartreads at wordpress

Hoe DOES she do it?! J R Ward has kept the brotherhood rolling with 17 books and this one measures up to one of my favorites serving the stage for new characters and stories to come. Good riddance to some real baddies and welcome to more family connections. Love the ‘young’. Love the good healers as well as those BDB fighters. Read it. Five stars.
