Publisher's Summary

Audiobook one: The Holy Grail

Fresh from his success with the search and rescue of the USS Omega Deep, Sam Reilly was looking forward to some much-needed rest. Not everyone had the same idea, though.

When a panicked man with purple eyes grabs him at gunpoint and takes him hostage, Sam knows this is more than a mere ransom opportunity; this man is scared of something. And Sam is going to have to find what it is if he wants to get out of this alive.

Audiobook two: The Phoenix Sanction

On board Phoenix Airlines Flight 318, Andrew Goddard awakens to discover the cockpit empty and all the passengers unconscious.

In the Colorado Monarch Mountains, an old gold miner discovers a fiendish stone mask sealed inside an obsidian chamber.

Sam Reilly has just three weeks to find out how the two unlikely events are connected, and the secret behind it might change everything we thought we knew about humanity.

Audiobook three: Habitat Zero

In the Pacific Ocean, a Silicon Valley magnate vacationing on his luxury motor yacht, Carpe Diem, stumbles across a floating island of pumice.

Two weeks later, the motor yacht returns to its home port in San Diego on autopilot - but when it arrives, nobody disembarks.

Sam Reilly and his team are called in to investigate what happened onboard Carpe Diem. But what at first appears to be a simple boating accident soon turns into a deadly game of international intrigue - sending America and Russia racing toward each other on an unavoidable collision course.

The best yet! It keeps getting better!

Sam Reilley is a wealthy marine biologist that, with his friend and co-worker Tom, goes on hunts for various mythological items. He goes on several adventures, with each story detailing one or more treasures to be found. Finding the treasures often involve dangerous trials, including battling with the “bad guys”, and saving the world from destruction.

Volume 5 of the Sam Reilley Collection contains the following stories:

The Holy Grail (Sam Reilly Book 13)
Sam, on his way to go on holiday, gets taken hostage by a purple eyed man. He decides to hep the man escape the FBI and find out his secrets. This one caught you right from the first moments, I could not stop listening!

The Phoenix Sanction (Sam Reilly Book 14)
A man awakes on an aircraft as the only conscious human. When a stone mask is discovered inside an obsidian chamber, Sam must unravel the connection between the two to save humanity. Very entertaining, very interesting, an absolute must read!

Habitat Zero (Sam Reilly Book 15)
A luxury yacht finds a floating island, and returns weeks later with no one alive on board. Sam must investigate to prevent the US and Russia going to war. Mystery meets thriller meets adventure. As always, Christopher’s story is absolutely brilliant.

The stories are packed with descriptive scenes, life threatening situations, fast paced action and archaeological treasure hunting. They are cleverly unraveled to keep the listener excited and intrigued throughout, not to mention to hear the next stories in the series. The genre reminds me of Indiana Jones, James Bond and the like. Not only are they filled with action and adventure, I feel that I was also educated by them. There are so many fascinating facts coming through about various mythological things, some of which I had heard of and learned more about, and some that I hadn’t heard of before and learned all about in the books. The stories are well written with cleverly built up plots and characters, including twists and turns throughout. They follow a series with ongoing relationships and themes, but with a new adventure each time. Sometimes other stories are mentioned in other books that elude to future upcoming adventures, or previously completed adventures. The series is absolutely addictive and interesting and I cannot wait to hear the next ones!

David narrated expertly. With excellent intonation for various characters and energy and passion throughout the series. He was a perfect fit for what I believe the stories’ perspectives to sound like. There were also some interesting audio elements coming through like hearing two people speak at the same time and hearing people speak through voice scramblers. Overall, the performance was masterful and absolutely added to my enjoyment thereof.

I highly recommend this series. Be warned though, once you start you may not be able to stop!

Absolutely love this series!

I can’t say enough how wonderfully done this series is. I highly recommend that you start at the beginning and enjoy the whole story. If you like mystery, adventure, history, and sci-fi, you will enjoy these books. My only regret is that I am now caught up, and have to wait for more to come!

Entertaining and so much fun...

I had so much fun listening to this Collection. I have liked the Sam Reilly books for quite a while - but to me this volume is particularly good. It is full of great ideas and adventure.

Also, Christopher Cartwright does a great job as a narrator. I like his voice very much. Recommended.

Exciting drama and interesting premise

I listened to Holy Grail over the course of two days. It was darned hard to attend to my normal routine, because it hooked me in. One quibble: the story didn't give me enough of Sam Reilly, the character who the series features. I haven't had time to finish the next two in the collection, which is a good thing. I have a road trip coming up and will enjoy them then. They'll lighten my tedium as I travel across I-80 in Nebraska!

I received this audio collection for free from Audiobook Boom and am leaving this honest and voluntary review.

Another Great Collection!

I love the Sam Reilly series and here are my reviews of the books in this set:

Sam Reilly 13 - The Holy Grail
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I love Sam Reilly; his cool logic, grace under fire and fast thinking. I listened to this one in one sitting, growling whenever I got interrupted (not kidding). Anyway, like all the other Sam Reilly books this one is awesome. I love how Mr Cartwright writes and the amount of research he puts into his books, yet the details don't bog the story down. The narration is very well done by David Gilmore, as usual. He really owns this series and keeps the voices the same from their first appearance to latest. I appreciate how Mr Gilmore doesn't go over the top with the characters' emotions, it just wouldn't fit. This is well written and excellently executed. If you are a Sam Reilly fan then you won't want to miss out on this one. The ending was a nice surprise too!

Sam Reilly 14 - The Phoenix Sanction
This is another book in the Sam Reilly series and I very much enjoyed it. This series is not for everyone, think along the lines of Sam Spade, but I find I have a hard time stopping for the night or even pausing when my attention is needed elsewhere. I'm always intrigued how the author will apply history to his stories and what impact it will have on Sam. There's action, adventure, suspense and mystery. There's nothing gory or over the top about this series and I find I enjoy that very much. The narration was superbly done by David Gilmore which is nothing new to those of us who have listened to the series from book one to now. I enjoy how his narration is understated, which (to me) adds to the story.

Sam Reilly 15 - Habitat Zero
This is another great Sam Reilly story. I have listened to all 15 stories in this series and I enjoyed this one as much as I have all the others. There's plenty of history and information put into easy to understand terms which I really love about this series. There's action, adventure, mystery, suspense and cool logic. In this tale future, present and past are all combined wonderfully. I love the Sam Reilly books and, as I've said before, if you enjoy Bogart's Sam Spade from old then you really should check out this book and the entire series! The narration was awesome. David Gilmore really brings the story to life. Each character has their own voice and emotions but without any over-the-top dramatics.

Just Can't Get Enough of This Series

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This series is truly getting addictive... Each book, which has in common the likable and bright Sam Reilly and a cast of unusual and interesting characters, will bring you into a world of unexpected situations in which science is used to explain what otherwise would be pure science fiction or paranormal happenings. You will want to listen to each story to the end, without pause, eager to see where the creative fantasy of the author will take you. Which brings me to the fact that one of the books at least, "Habitat Zero" could have been developed a little more. The storyline is great but there are a few "gray" areas. Maybe a revisit by the author into these undeveloped aspects of the story, would help to turn a great book into a classic.
As usual the narration by David Gilmore was superb. He truly embodies the Sam Reilly's personality, but is also able to give life to the other characters. I'm looking forward to continue my journey of discovery into the series.

Incredible Stories!

The Sam Reilly Collection, Volume 5 by Christopher Cartwright is incredible! I love the character of Sam Reilly. Each book is a standalone listen in this collection, featuring Sam Reilly. The author writes some incredible imagery, and meshes fact with fiction, myth with history and mystery, plus non-stop action. The plausible and the science fiction aspects also merge flawlessly.
David Gilmore is the perfect voice for this series. He delivers distinguishable voices for the characters, and inflects the right emotions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. This collection volume is books 13-15, which are some of my favorites. I will definitely be listening to more books by this talented author and narrator.
