It took me most of the first book to grasp characters and plot; second book was so good, I finished listening in 24 hrs! It also took me some time to like the narrator but she has grown on me like so many of the characters!

Second better than the first

Even better than the first book! The narration is perfect and doesn’t need the change in speed that the first did. The story is a joyous and sorrowful adventure.

Truly amazing

I purchased this book after reading several good reviews. I am glad I started this series. The action is a bit slow, but the character development and world building has been excellent. Lots of intrigue and politics. I just finished the second book and know I will continue to binge listen to the end of the story. The narrator's voice can be a bit irritating (particularly with male voices, but overall she does justice to the story.

Great second book

This 2nd volume has a better pace than the first book. Cerulia has several aliases that change quickly, so you have to listen.
Thalen uses his strong talents of logic to guide a group of equally talented and very courageous people into Oro land to attempt to draw the invading armies out of Sutterdam and the free states. He has many unknown and known supporters, who all do their part to bring down the powerful Oro armies and the Magi. Cerulia as Skylark finds and joins Thalen’s Raiders. Her ability to communicate with animals is the Raider’s secret weapon.
The action for the last 10 chapters is quick, and a bit overwhelming at times. The end leaves you wondering….and if you are as invested in the characters as I am, you will definitely want to listen to the next book.

The narration is excellent! The voices are easily distinguishable, and the characters are read with much emotion. This would be an excellent mini-series!
