The War Of The Worlds Begins Again as Martian Tripods Return to Earth!
The terror of the coming of the Martians is all but a distant memory, a bad dream that has faded with time. All George wants is a quiet suburban life – but at breakfast one morning his newspaper reports the shocking discovery of a Martian cylinder, found intact and unopened, and carefully transported to London. Could it be from the first alien invasion and are Martians still alive inside after more than ten years?
By teatime George learns that vengeance seeking Martians and their tripod fighting machines are already on their way back. This time they are armed with a doomsday weapon, able to destroy all bacteria and completely annihilate Earth. The countless numbers of their projectiles form a huge green comet and invasion day will be just before Christmas.
The first attack by aliens was enough for any lifetime, but who would expect to be involved with two? Can George and his wife escape this new Martian apocalypse and how will our planet survive a second time?
The Day Of The Martians continues the iconic Mars novel by H.G. Wells, in this exciting, unmissable action adventure with original music and immersive sound effects – the first volume of The Martian Diaries audio drama science fiction series. I was very interested in the looming threat approaching earth throughout the novel, and I was disappointed that the plot beat resolved itself without much of any conflict or conflict resolution. The ending overall felt a bit rushed. And I will say that some of the Martian tech in this felt a bit like "oneupmanship" over Wells' fighting machines from the original story.
The narration and music are a nice touch, though sometimes the music feels a bit out of place for the scene. It's not super distracting. Just something I had to get used to.
Overall, this is a great read! It's well structured, well written and a great homage to one of the greatest Sci-Fi writers of all time. If you are looking for a sci-fi horror read to keep you company this spooky season, I highly recommend giving this one a go! I will absolutely be checking out the sequels as well.
So Much Fun!

In HG Well's version, Ogilvy dies early in the beginning of the story. In this continuation, he's still living. THAT was a turn off for me. Then the narrator later mentions the death of the curate without a hint of guilt due to the fact in the HG Wells version, the narrator strikes the curate with a shovel knocking him out. Later a Martian tentacle drags the curate away, leaving the reader to assume what happened to the curate.
So I had difficulty continuing with the story knowing that the author used license to alter the facts of HG Well''s work, which to me is like alternating a painting by Rembrandt or Da Vinci.
Not what I thought,dissapointing
