Publisher's summary

To repay his debt to Shal, Randidly Ghosthound fought his way through the preliminaries of the Under-25 Regional Tournament in Tellus.

His victories have earned him a spot in Deardun, the seat of power in the Northern Domain. But in this new venue, there are storms brewing on the horizon. Now he’s not just fighting against the unaffiliated warriors, he's one injury or loss away from becoming a Forsaken.

The affluent Styles that rule the Northern Domain have passed the championship between each other over the last five decades, and they aren’t willing to surrender it now.

Yet an even larger shadow looms on the horizon...

Representatives from the autocratic Central Domain have infiltrated the tournament, looking for clues about an old mystery: the true story of the Shal’s father—the original Spear Phantom—and the location of the third gift he received from the Witch of Karma, Lucretia.

Terrific Entertainment!

The first book was good, the second got better, and now in the third book it's moved to 'so engrossing I don't want to put it down'.

P.s. To author N. Flood-- I gave you 20 stars but the last five were [redacted by the System]. I also sent you a box of ultra rare [redacted by the system] so you could go buy that new mansion you so richly deserve, and retire from any work except writing. Hoping for a book every month! Thanks so much!

WWSD, Book 2.5 not Book 3

Too much what would Shal do! SERIOUSLY, you can make a drinking game on how many time Randidly says 'What will Shal do?' or the many times he flogged himself with Shal saying 'You are Weak!' or 'If you can.think foolish thoughts then you can train!'
Should have been Book 2.5 not book 3. This book does continue tournament arc where book 2 ends and just remains there and LINGERS all the way to the end! Nothing on the happens or characters on Earth in this book!

Nothing but plot armor

MC has no actual consequences! Needs a skill to accomplish a task? Just make it himself, and better! It’s like the author went through all the trouble of creating a really fascinating progression system only to then ignore it for Randidly.

I’m quitting about halfway through this book so maybe things change, doubtful, but maybe.

Ugh.

Spoilers Ahead: Warning.

I hate when there is a big bad 'guy' in the background that is so impossibly strong that the poor MC must struggle with all his might to keep their soul. This evil will overshadow the entire series. I prefer enemies being stronger, but just out of reach. Being up against a God is stupid. I already see where this is going. He will tear his self apart fighting foes out of his league. This will weaken him for when he goes back. There will be a lot of wasted time of him healing up. I'm going to be pissed if he weakens himself and I have to suffer through chapters of him trying to get back to his normal strength.

Ugh. He doesn't think. He starts links with people when he absolutely should keep his condition secret. Always releasing ether when others are around. Grafting runes when in public. Selling them when he knows the guild will come after him.

I just want him to have a class that is not connected to the system. He should be able to figure it out. Then he can get even stronger. He will need all the strength he can get...

Don't waste your time.

This series is bad. The world building is non existent and the characters are 1 dimensional.

Unfocused

Unlike the last book of this series this one seems unfocus and apparently jumps between many characters who are uninteresting. If the focus would remain on the MC this story would be much better. The spear needs to advance as does the action in this story there is too much internal dialogue and external monologue. This story is static.
