Publisher's summary

The Journey Home is an unprecedented combination of a nonfiction life account with an award winning soundtrack that tells the story of the author's own transformational healing journey from a Las Vegas entrepreneur and real estate developer whose financial and emotional collapse led him to his ultimate truth and highest calling. The Journey Home takes the listener on a fascinating journey from a life of material wealth and the pursuit of pleasure through near-destitution as it chronicles a plethora of jaw-dropping external exploits and fascinating inner experiences with twists and turns that ultimately reveal his natural healing gifts and true purpose, Oneness, and the reason for our suffering.

Written in sing-song lyrical prose, The Journey Home is laced with humor, sex, mysticism, addiction, and is, in one way or another, the essence of every man's journey.

A story with veins exposed.

What a great book accompanied by great music. The journey of a country singer-songwriter and an in-depth look at a man’s struggle with his inner demons. I wasn’t much of a country music fan but this book gave me a whole new appreciation. Definitely a book with grit and heart that makes you want to be a modern cowboy.

A Journey you won't regret taking

I just finished listening to Carl John's book The Journey Home, and I found it truly captivating. I loved hearing how the events in his life lead to his realization of what really mattered and what he truly wanted.
I admire his honesty and transparency in sharing his story, his admission of making the mistakes he did makes him easy to relate to, and I learn that there were no mistakes after all, without him having taken all the steps he did he wouldn't have been where he is.
I love the way he uses the language-he has a way with words, his writing is poetic, yet precise.
I also love that he interact the spoken word with his music, he's a soulful singer/singwriter with a beautiful voice, he sings from the heart.
So happy I came upon this "book"-thank you CJ for sharing your story with us.
Can't wait for the sequel!

An Inspirational Journey

This book makes me want to become a better person. Carl John opens up his life in a brutally honest way exposing himself at his low points and had me celebrating with him on his successes. The music intertwined throughout adds an enriching ambience to an already entertaining story. Thanks for sharing your journey, Carl John.

Truthful journey

The fact that the author was pure of heart enough, to not only write his story, but read it to us was a gift to the quality of the book.

The raw internal struggle and the outlets that he chose to take to unburden himself, while creating new plyth, is a very real battle faced by so many.

Being able to share such intimacy along with music and the constant of love from his children was beautiful

May his journey continue and the light be bright

A guided tour out into and out of Dodge

CJ provides words of encouragement and holds the lantern along his meandering path to awakening with humor, sorrow, raw grit, honesty and a steady hand. I highly recommend this to anyone who is on the fence about doing the work to change their life in order to be true to their authentic self. The Journey Home is both fierce and tender; always reminding you to forgive yourself when you stray from the path, and to keep pushing on down the lonely road of enlightenment.

Emotionally raw, lyrically written.

I came across this book after a chance encounter with the author on a trip out west. I’ve always love to hear the stories of peoples life experiences. As a parent, as a person who has struggled to set personal boundaries with others, as a woman who has struggled with anxiety and self doubt, I really felt for CJ and his experiences. Our struggles differ in type, but not in root. Having spoken to CJ, I felt his empathy, compassionate spirit, and his love for his daughters as we spoke of parenting and friendships. I’m very glad he decided to share part of his story with me through this book.

The writing is so poetic. Every word is carefully chosen so the author’s purpose in writing and intent to impart care to others and develop his own healing and knowledge. Thanks for sharing your time, energy, spirit, and knowledge, CJ!
Sincerely,
Steph S.
