I love this book series and want more.

The turn in the plot at the end of the book has me super excited for the next installment. Narrator nails it as well as the author. If you liked the first book you will like this one even more I think.

Training Montage!

Instead of four days, this book spans at least a month (I lost track). Our gamer MC struggles with his lack of power and undergoes insane training methods, Psionic abilities are introduced into the game, and the goblins meet the new and reinvigorated players.

When things seem too easy, it is most likely that is the case. I eagerly await the next book, expecting a lot of controversy with the introduction of the new characters.

Would have returned but listened to too much

The first book had potential and was somewhat fun. The second was a swamp of angst and confusion. The MC spends the first half telling you in WAAAAAY to much detail about his exercise regime all while sitting in his own head pissing and moaning about his uncertainty. He broke is back day one in the game and since the pain threshold was at 100% he felt it, and was restored to full health within 24 hours......since he experienced real pain for the first time in years of being a PROFESSIONAL gamer he freaked out and anguished about it for most of the first half of this book.

the second half is the MC in his own head anguishing about people "dying" during the goblin siege even though, after he freaks out and cries over a guy dying in his arms, within minutes the player is re-spawned and rejoins his company to continue the fight. why the over the top emotional overload if its a GAME and you die and RE-SPAWN almost instantly to continue the fight.

I listen to a LOT of audio books some pulp and some really good and I am usually pretty forgiving if the character development is decent. This MC actually has me rooting for him to get is whinny butt beat into pulp.

AWESOME!

I wasn't sure about this series after the first book. It had taken me a few listens to stick with survive week one and finish it, but by the time i was 70% through, I was hooked. I eagerly downloaded book 2 and was not disappointed! The Goblin Seige took the momentum from the first book and doubled it. I had no trouble listening through and stayed hood the whole book. The battles and training were exciting, and it was fun to see each character's growth and progression. I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait for book 3!

Enjoyable twist on litrpg

The angle is unexpected, so you don’t go down the familiar, yet well loved line of a typical litrpg.

love it

I love this author for more reasons than I can really put into words, but one reason is always clear. I read or listen to 20+ novels every month, this of course means I read a lot of subpar material. One thing too many authors do is curve characters to fit story plots making them make the WORST decisions possible. Even supposed genius characters are made to make idiot decisions. This is never the case with Mr. Thorne. Even bad decisions are not completely kill yourself idiotic and honestly it's like coming up for air after nearly drowning in a mire, every time I get the opportunity to read or listen to his work. This series moreso than his other one.

I loved this book, as I loved the first one and I see so many avenues of expansion from it becoming enders game like, to this becoming a series that could span genres into military space opera. I could see this becoming 5+ novels easily and reach the ranks of Harry Potter popularity, though it may just end up being among the standard of what all litrpg/scifi should be. Either way, I love it all and always look forward to more.

Amazing story and..

The story is deep and captivating. You can feel what the characters feel and in this series they feel plenty. A great story. I can't wait for the next installment.

I’m just not sure...

This is a review for the 2nd book, The Goblin Siege. I liked the first book thinking it was a bit slow and the story was... not incredibly compelling but had interesting likable characters and a very good narrator. This second book was... the same. When does the plot pick up and become interesting and not just a (very) detailed character building exercise? How many books will it take? And how many detailed pages describing workouts - the exact same ones that any person who works out would be doing today 300 years in the books past. It’s just weird and monotonous. Somebody (the author) has recently discovered the joys of working out and just can’t stop themselves from over sharing in this book that absolutely does not need details about mundane workouts. Like I said... I’m just not sure.

Excellent follow up!!

I’m not normally one to write a review I’ve normally already moved on to the next book needing to be read/listened to. However The Goblin Siege was a superb follow up to book on in the series. I really can’t wait for book three. Excellent work Apollos!

You did it again!!!

its a must read and is one of the best books in this genre. No spoilers, epic story as usual. player vs world. only depressing thing is that I have to wait until book 3 is out now.

I will most likely listen to it a second possibly third time this month!
