Contains the first four books in the Magical Fusion Series:

The Fusionist
Academic ConFusion
Aetheric InFusion
Global DifFusion

A young man and his axe, along with a magical life he never asked for…

Larek Holsten is different from most people, living in the Kingdom of Androthe where his 7-foot-tall frame is looked at with suspicion and anger from its shorter residents; but as long as it helps him become the best Logger he can be, he doesn’t let it bother him all that much. He and his best friend, an axe with a powerful Fusion that causes it to become sharper and stronger than a normal tool, are feared by the trees in the magical forest north of his home, as he can fell the quickly growing monoliths faster than anyone else in the community.

Unfortunately, after visiting the local village, a deliberate misunderstanding lands Larek in trouble; as a result, he is taken away from his family and the only home he has ever known. Along the way, his dormant magical potential is discovered by those more knowledgeable than him, and he is ordered to attend some sort of academy for Mages.

The problem? Contrary to many who might jump at the chance of wielding powerful magic to fight the monsters that threaten the towns and cities around the Kingdom, Larek has absolutely no desire to become a Mage, especially when he has no choice in the matter. All he wants is to be allowed to return home to his family and to chop down the trees in the Rushwood Forest.

But once he discovers a unique talent that stems from his newly unlocked latent power, he might just have to stick around to see what he can do…

This weak-to-strong MC story contains LitRPG elements such as character progression and statistics, as well as a heavy crafting emphasis. No explicit sexual content or harems.

I appreciate it when Brooks breaks out of his Dungeon Core comfort zone. That is how we get books like this. This is a more traditional LitRPG with stats and level. The MC is like-able and advances at a good pace through the books. It is definitely a weak to strong progression. To get 4 books and 70+ hours for a credit, that is the kind of deal that I am looking for. The narration was good and up to the standard of his other books.w

Great value

This was a great start to the story and now I’m hooked. I didn’t care for the stat lists, especially as he got stronger and the list gets longer but those sections are easily skipped so it doesn’t affect the rating . I’d give you 6 stars for the story alone!

Love the magic system and the way caster/fusionist creativity matters.

The main character shows character growth that makes the series enjoyable. Would recommend to any litrpg fans that enjoy technical insights in magic.

surprisingly enjoyable

While I liked this story very much, the magical system is interesting, The protagonists growth was pretty steady and didn't happen too quickly. Considering a lot of its viability is based on imagination, the author gave themselves plenty of leeway for the protagonist to " think of something" to further increase the protagonist's power when necessary. although a lot was still left locked behind for the learning, so that was nice.

I wish the protagonist made less mistakes, in final book or two. It's kind hard to remember that these four books span only like a year or two, while in many other stories it'd be over several years, so the protagonist would have time to mature. This protagonist has a lot of maturing to do, as they're very sheltered and naive, even for their age.

I'll also say that I don't like the instinctual thing that the people in his kingdom have, it just rubs me the wrong way. I think the same effect could have been just going by height, without even bringing the idea of the instinctual thing. there's no way it would be hereditary in only a thousand years, and The idea that it would is just is dumb, it would have been better if it was just a magically enforced originally on purpose thing that would have been less dumb. And I wouldn't have even cared that much, but it was brought up a lot since it colors most of the interactions.

I liked this story very much

I'm going to start this review off with what I've seen brought up in several negative reviews on other sites. At the beginning of the series Larek is very ignorant which is on point because of his upbringing at a logger. He also faces extreme bigotry, which we don't learn the cause of until book 2. I think this book suffers from not having a prologue that explains the source of Larek's bigotry. Please don't let these things put you off from the series.

I'm glad that I picked this book back up. I remember reading it when it was being posted serially and I had forgotten about it after I stopped reading web serials until I saw the author at an event. I highly recommend this book and suggest giving it a chance if you are concerned by the issues I mentioned previously.

I love that throughout these 4 books we get to see Larek grow as a person and improve his abilities. He sees real character growth and grows from an ignorant logger into his own person. I can't wait to see how he grows as the series goes on. Larek is the type of person who really cares for friends and family. I immediately purchased book 5 after finishing this omnibus.

I don't want it spoil anything but I like how the magic system works and find the limitations of it interesting.

The narrator does a great job, but his reading was a little slow for me. Listening to him at 1.1x speed matched my preferred listening speed perfectly without distorting his voice.

From Logger to Reluctant Hero

So I got the book 1-4 omnibus. Loved books 1-3 but 4 was so meh I almost just quit. All in all skip book 4. Go Books 1-3. Then first 4 chapters of 4. Last 2 chapters of 4 and then go to 5.
5 is likely everything you thought you’d get in 4.
5 Stars for 1-3 but if I had paid for 4 I’d have quite. Buying book 5 was satisfying and worth it.

Skip book 4 just buy 5

you ask what is a fusion well to me it is like a enchantment or ruin were the mc can put different effects on weapons armor an many other things. the mc starts out as a logger ends up going to school were he learns magic an fusion. an finds out he is good at fusions but cant cast spells. he also has issues were people dislike him for his height tall. an finds out why this is an what he is, also in this book you have friendships, enemies, beast waves, an secrets to be found out about the mc. also demon possessions. an many more things like traveling to new areas. continue to listen to this series it is a 5 start series . .

if you like books on enchanting then tis is for u

This was a good story. However, having to skip whole chapters of nothing but character stats that did nothing to further the story really made the listening a slog. I found myself always listening to the story at 1.5 x speed as the performance could get dull at times.

Good story encumbered by stat overload
