Extremely Inconsistent, very disappointed.

Sometimes they are adults (swearing, dealing with existential problems, or just handling adult responsibilities. Other times, they act like 10-12 year olds with a crush, tiptoe around their juvenile "forbidden romance" three-way LGBTQ+whatever relationship as it "just sort of happens" (literally the most unrealistic thing in a novel about delving a reality warping office-themed dungeon realm for fun and profit). Sometimes they make jokes about rear ends and private parts, sometimes they worry about and make idle plans to literally bootstrapping humanity and working on solutions to massive issues like world hunger and poverty.

It is completely inconsistent, and honestly the unrealistic three-way couple crap feels completely shoe-horned in as some weird fantasy of the author as it adds absolutely nothing to the story or plot except teen angst from the supposed adults.

Rather than appreciating the furthering of the story from the first book, I'm left irritated at having had a badly written alternative teen romance Story crammed into my reality bending dungeon dive plot that was initially promised.

Pick a genre, or at LEAST pick an age category, and be consistent with what's on the tin. That really is not too much to ask, is it?

Absolutely love this story

Have truly enjoyed this story. Love the puns. The obscure references that seem to always land for me.if love to visually see this story come to life not just in my head.

Not as good as the first one

I don’t care what anyone does romanticly in their own life but just like irl romantic relationships in the office can be a bad idea if you’re displaying it as often as they do in this book. There’s no graphic sex scenes or discussions about bedroom antics but the constant tension between the characters kills the plot for the rest of the book. I hope the shiny new relationship feelings wears off and the next one gets back to the main story that drew me in the first time.

The world is bigger than we knew

The series moves from a basic encounter with a life changing experience. The team of very different personalities and ethics can and do come to explore a world that is not easily understood from a single point of view. The mix of very personal experiences and overwhelming circumstances allows the personalisation of the characters to support the greater than real life experiences

Relationship Warning

A wonderful continuation of the previous book, and I thoroughly enjoyed all twelve chapters I read.

However, I feel the need to warn you that three major characters get into a polyamorous relationship. The love-triangle-thing is well written, healthy, and pretty tame by most romance standards. Overall, 9/10 romance content that progresses some good character stuff and makes sense for those people. It's not even that plot relevant, so it can be safely ignored if you're not into that sort of thing.

That said, I have an unhealthy complex about poly stuff and can't continue to read past it, and thought I should let others know. And honestly? The poly thing's not an issue, I'm just messed up. If any of these three were couples, I'd be singing their praises, but what can I do.

If I were you, I'd still give this book a read regardless of what you think you'll feel. It's good work.

great addition to the series

ok, I'll admit the poly relationships and such aren't my cup of tea - everyone's got their own preferences right?
that said, the relationship stuff is super tame and doesn't distract from the story in the least. loved the world building and character development, especially that of the familiars like Rufus (my favorite little stapler out of the bunch)
looking forward to where book 3 takes us!

author and narrator did a great job and I'm excited for the next book! not to mention reading other stuff from this author *cough* kitty cat kill sat *cough* (such a great name)

a great conclusion and set up for more

This is a great story of self discovery, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity. We all feel like we're stuck in a soul destroying world, but these heros can have their souls sucked out. If you enjoyed the first one, this added just enough to feel fresh, and doesn't repeat on too much. Enhoy!
