A nice surprise!

What a wealth of information! I love that it is all found in one place. Several books are represented, so it’s to be expected that not everything will resonate with the reader. My favorites were The Art of War, The Prince, and On War. I learned a lot that I can apply to my own life. As a woman of faith, I see many things that actually go against the spiritual war that I fight every day. But there were plenty of things to take to heart as well, especially the importance of rest and that sometimes it’s better to rest than take action. My assessment is if you feel you need to follow most of the actions in this book, then you need to reassess your goals. Not everyone is an enemy or a subject to submit to your will. St Francis of Assisi is just one example of when an establishment became too greedy, and someone had the guts to stand up and say, “This isn’t right!” Bottom line, I learned a lot about what not to do through these books, but I also picked up some good wisdom.

For those of you wanting more, I offer my notes below that I took while listening. They will probably make more sense after you have listened to the book:

Some interesting tidbits from the Prince: He who is the cause of another’s greatness is himself undone. Relying wholly on the lion is not good. There are times when it is best for the prince not to keep his word. The section regarding the lion and the fox was interesting. Conclusion: The Prince should keep his mind ready to shift. Ought not to quit good courses if he can help it, but should know how to follow evil courses if he must. 1. Mercy, 2. Good, 3. faith, 4. integrity, 5. humanity and religion. Results determine success. Laws and force. If first is ineffectual, he must resort to force. Fox to discern foils and a lion to drive off wolves. Disarming instills distrust and hatred. Weaker factions will always stand with the leader. Promoting hatred can sometimes help a prince to rise up. I can see where our recent country leaders have put many of these things into practice, not always for the best.

The Book of Five Rings was thoroughly confusing to me. Sayings such as: knowing things that exist, you can know things that do not exist. Taking void as the way, you will see the way as void…Spirit is nothingness.

Book One:
War is a dual on an extensive scale. Act of violence to compel the enemy to fulfill our will (disarming him). Country, government, will. Business of war. Force destroyed, enemy subdued.
Book 2
On the Theory of War
The art of making use of a given means of fighting.
Branches . . .
Acts called combats form units
Tactics and strategies
Use of majority
Theory is about the use of tactics: use of military forces in combat
Use of combats for the objects of the war
Book 3 Of strategy in general (This was my favorite!)
Employment of the battle to give an aim to the war
Forms the plan of the war and links together the series of acts that lead to the end.
*Strategy must go with the army to the field to reassess. One can never take their hand from the battle for a moment.
Organize according to object and means, not too little or too much, not so much by new modes of action but in successful final result of the whole. Noiseless harmony of the whole action and only makes itself known in final result. Strategy, simple but not easy.

Elements connected. No soulless analysis. Moral, physical, mathematical, geographical and statistical.

gold mine

This is truly a gold mine of strategies. Many are famous and very classic strategies. I'd admiit that some may seem a bit old, but those are ancient histories. Even those old strategies and stories would still tell quite a bit about new perspectives. It shows how they diagnose the situation, and find solution. there is the thought process that still applicable no matter place and time. Also know that this is a 50 hours audiobook. Finishing these whole many stories gonna take you lots and lots of time. Enjoy it!

Knowledge of qncient and historical philosophies

In this awesome book, you'll learn cool tricks to beat life's tough stuff. It's all about solving problems in a nice and fair way, using good morals and stuff. The author talks about war ideas and how they help us understand things today. They also talk about rules and attitudes we have now. It's like a guide to being smart and doing good in the world. If you want to be awesome at life, you gotta read this book!

Great Compendium on Strategical Thinking!

I've read much of these writings from within this compilation, but there are a few new, related works to what I have read that were also included in this book, which extends on much of the value I've gotten from reading the works by these authors. I'm really glad I picked this up, it's great to have so many monumental works all in one book file!

Must Read

This is an excellent collection of books to gain wisdom from. Highly recommended! I especially liked "The Art Of War".

An excellent compilation

This work is well worth a listen, but it is a marathon…not a sprint. Sun Tzu penned a masterpiece that should be required reading in high school. Machiavelli, the manual on how to exploit human nature. Musashi channeled his inner Mandalorian because it is the way. Clausewitz and his well-known maxim about war and politics continues to be correct. Chanakya finishes the tome off with the proper operations of a State. Have plenty of time blocked off for this, but I think it’s worth the effort.

Classics in one collection

This is a great collection of classics in one. Some of the best strategy books ever written all together in one record is useful and puts a context over the course of the series that allows for some serious contemplation and consideration.

Good Collection of Strategy Books!

This audiobook is a 52-hour narration of several Strategy books, such as the Art of War. The sound quality of the recording is very good, and the collection of these classic books is good as well. My favorite was the Art of War, which can be applied to many situations.

Complete audiobook of the best strategic books

Although I’ve read most of the books in this bundle, hearing them narrated is such a cool experience. So many strategic lessons learned and bits of leadership knowledge that can be applied to everyday situations in the work environment for any experienced, new or aspiring leader.

Learn strategy from great masters

Wow, this book is really a combo of power! My inner warrior is excited! This collection is a combination of several books so it can be listened to separately or one by one. The narrator is super professional and the whole listening process is very understandable.
